Description

The Chief Financial Officer is a member of the Village Leadership Team. The VLT as a team is responsible to develop the Vision and Strategy to ensure The Village lives its Guiding Principles, is sustainable and is actively on the quest to uncover and deliver The Big One. The VLT is responsible for the profitable growth and organizational health of The Village for the purpose of helping us to live our Mission, Vision, Values and Guiding Principles. 

The Chief Financial Officer has the responsibility to lead the growth of The Village through understanding and maximizing the financial opportunities that exist within our portfolio. This includes being a strong business partner to the leadership of our current operating companies as well as developing the strategy for our acquisitions and investments. S/he will have ownership for leading the development of and executing the strategy for ensuring we acquire the companies and investments that deliver on our Village portfolio financial expectations. 

Duties and Responsibilities of the Position:

  • Believe that the billion-dollar opportunity is in our future and actively search for opportunities to create it
  • Own the financial results of The Village to achieve 25% minimum pre-tax profit 
  • Put the mission of the Village Leadership Team above that of the Village Investments team 
  • Be responsible for all aspects of the strategic and operational planning and performance for The Village in alignment with the vision of our shareholders
  • Make recommendations to our shareholders regarding acquisitions and divestitures 
  • Be invested in the personal success of your Village Leadership Teammates
  • Ensure you have the leadership structure, dynamics and bench to ensure sustainability in the organization

Be a Great Leader for your Finance and Investments/Real Estate Team

  • Develop a nimble, high performing team with bench strength
  • Lead your Finance and Accounting team to ensure accurate and compliant financial processes and statements capable of successfully passing a formal financial Audit
  • Ensure we have the business intelligence that allows us to take information and make it useful in driving action to deliver on our financial plans now and in the future. 
  • Take accountability for the P&L and metrics for The Village Investments & Village Real Estate
  • Ensure we have the portfolio for The Village in place and is executed upon to support our strategy
  • Build out and nurture all aspects of a healthy, vibrant network that drives opportunity for execution of our portfolio

Requirements

Education/Training:

  • Education & Experience – A Bachelor’s degree in Finance or a related field. Fifteen or more years of experience in business leadership, treasury management and business development with a proven track record of developing sustainable and effective relationships.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Strategic Leadership Skills – A strong business strategist with demonstrated ability to work as a member of the core leadership team in the creation and implementation of strategy that successfully supports the objectives of the business. 
  • Business and Financial Acumen – Possess a strong business acumen with the ability to think holistically beyond functional areas and envision the big picture for the organization. Innovative yet financially driven by solid research and data. Strong project management skills to establish goals, priorities and manage multiple projects with a variety of timelines. 
  • Interpersonal and Communication Skills Highly relational and collaborative with the ability to build effective, credible relationships across all functions and levels of an organization. Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills to support effective interaction at all levels both internally and externally. 

Travel Requirements:

  • ·Typically, 2 to 4 travels days per month

Physical Requirements:

  • Typical office environment
