Viking Engineering and Development is Hiring a Mechanical Project Engineer Near Fridley, MN

**Candidates must be located in the Twin Cities, MN area**

Purpose and Scope of Position

Mechanical design and project leadership for development of automated machinery.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Write mechanical component and system specifications to support product concept development.
  • Lead and perform mechanical design engineering for subsystems and full automated manufacturing machines.
  • Create engineering drawings utilizing Viking Engineering standards.
  • Monitor and manage design release activities to ensure on-time releases.
  • Lead moderately sized product development projects utilizing the Viking Product Development Process.
  • Write machine validation plans for new products or features.
  • Lead or assist in establishment of engineering standards.
  • Lead and perform technical problem solving.
  • Contribute to machine safety risk assessment and mitigation.
  • Mentor and guide team members as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Capabilities

  • Mechanical design engineering.
  • Proficient in Solidworks modeling software.
  • Understand mathematical modeling of motion dynamics.
  • Understand and conform to applicable codes and standards: Viking standards, customer specifications, UL, NFPA, OSHA.
  • Adhere to, support and promote the Viking vision and culture statements.
  • Demonstrate professional, respectful interaction with other team members.
  • Accurately and professionally represent Viking to customers and vendors.
  • Microsoft project and excel proficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 1 years of product development project leadership.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products.
  • Disciplined diagnostic and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate with a variety of people both verbally and in writing, including presentation skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 15% of the time.
