Vicinity Energy, Inc. is Hiring a Cost Accountant Near Philadelphia, PA

Summary The Cost Accountant will be responsible for tracking capital project expenditures, manpower and invoicing; preparing comprehensive monthly reports; assisting with the completion of the monthly closing process, budget, and audit support. They will also assist with the procurement, tracking, and budget for Energy commodities. This position will be “hands on,” detail oriented, and proficient with ERP systems. This is a full-time salaried position in our Philadelphia, PA site. The Cost Accountant reports to the Regional Accounting Manager. Responsibilities Project Account Management • Manage all accounting related functions for assigned projects • Produce draft invoices and invoice packages for capital and O&M projects, based on work order data • Organize and track invoices for engineering projects • Monitor project related purchase orders for appropriate funding • Participate in CAPEX estimating and bid selection process • Participate in the CAPEX approval and tracking process. Corporate Financial Teams Primary point of contact for questions and updates and amendments. • Support the procurement manager with procurement needs for major engineering projects • Participate in site visits and project walkdowns as needed Energy Account Management • Assist in energy procurement, maintain price indices and volumes • Assist in financial analysis and monthly metrics • Monitor and communicate the potential impact of energy prices and fluctuations on major contracts Finance Team • Support month-end accounting close • Assist with financial reporting and variance analysis • Assist with annual budget preparation and audit support • Prepare fuel invoices and wire requests for payment processing • Support the accounting and finance teams as needed Qualifications and Experience • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related technical field required • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in project accounting preferred or demonstrated rapid ability to learn • Prior experience with enterprise asset management software desired • Previous Maximo experience preferred • Advanced Microsoft Excel experience with the ability to manipulate data, run pivot tables, generate formulas, and validate data entry • Strong analytical, organization, and communication skills • Ability to work with minimal direction in a highly collaborative manner to meet required deadlines and perform all necessary tasks
