SUMMARY OF POSITION
As a key member of the Executive Management team, the Chief Operations Officer assumes a strategic role in the overall management and growth of Vibrant Health. The COO is in a leadership role to direct and guide a team to deliver measurable, cost-effective results that further the mission of Vibrant Health. The COO is an integral member of Vibrant Health's senior management team and will oversee and direct all internal finances and operations at each clinic sites. The COO building, implementing, and overseeing all of the organization's systems, processes, workflows, and procedures. The COO will have bottom line responsibility for leading and managing all operational and administrative aspects of the organization. In addition, the COO will be an essential contributor to Vibrant Health's growth planning process and will help shape the future of a fast-growing, financially healthy, well-respected clinic organization. This individual will be responsible for developing, monitoring, and evaluating overall corporate strategy with the leadership team. The COO will provide critical guidance and insight to ensure strategic, fact-based decision-making and ensure that implementation plans are successful.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIESThe Chief Operating Officer performs a wide range of duties, including, but not limited to the following:
- Directs, manages, and continuously evaluates the operations and support service activities emphasizing efficient operations, financial accountability, and strategic development.
- Oversees operational issues of the organization, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations while ensuring consistency of policies and procedures at all sites. Maintains knowledge of current requirements of federal, state, and local policies and procedures regarding community health programs. Remains current on local and national healthcare trends and applies best practices to Vibrant Health's work processes.
- Directs and oversees the day-to-day operations of the organization, to include, facilities, security, patient flow, and processes. Monitors and evaluates programmatic and operational effectiveness and changes required for improvement.
- Develops and fosters effective collaboration between departments to ensure an integrated approach to providing services and fulfilling the center's goals and objectives. Effectively reporting health center activities and information to the CEO, and other members of Senior leadership team, as appropriate.
- Identifies and evaluates actual or potential safety and risk management issues; intervenes as appropriate; intervenes and problem-solves inter/intradepartmental issues as required.
- Assists in establishing and maintaining an organizational structure and staffing to effectively accomplish the organization's goals and objectives.
- Provides overall development, organization, and leadership in stewardship of the systems necessary to provide efficient, effective, and accessible quality health care.
- Works closely with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to coordinate clinical activities, ensuring that effective systems are in place to support the delivery of patient care and clinic operations.
- Monitors trends and assists in the improvement of services by analyzing operating procedures and recommending cost-effective and efficient solutions.
- Assists CEO with the planning, development and administration of all business activities, programs, and services of the organization.
- Participates in development, implementation, evaluation and maintenance of policies, objectives, and short and long-range planning.
- Develops and implements projects and programs to assist in accomplishment of established goals.
- Working with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), monitors revenue and expenditure trends and makes recommendations for cost-effective operations.
- Spearhead the development, communication and implementation of effective growth strategies and processes.
- Collaborate with the management team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes, and personnel designed to accommodate the rapid growth objectives of our organization.
- Ability to clearly execute plans of action and communicate clinical and regulatory strategies with all internal and external stakeholders, to include the Board of Directors, Senior Management, Leadership.
Minimum Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field. Minimum ten years of business management, budgetary and supervision experience; minimum eight years in a senior management role providing broad oversight of financial and operations functions, including finance and business reporting and analysis, general administration, strategic planning, and facilities administration. Results-proven track record of exceeding goals and a bottom-line orientation. Evidence of the ability to consistently make good decisions through a combination of analysis, wisdom, experience, and judgment. Enthusiasm and willingness to promote growth and expansion of low and no-cost healthcare services for underserved communities. Ability to effectively build organization and staff capacity, developing a top-notch workforce and the processes that ensure the organization runs smoothly. Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment. Possesses thorough understanding and broad experiences with the full range of business functions and systems including: strategic development and planning, budgeting, business analysis, facilities management, finance, information systems, human resources, legal affairs, and marketing.
