About the Position

VHB’s Bedford, NH office is seeking a Transportation Engineer to join our growing Transportation practice. This position provides an opportunity to work on complex transportation projects for major federal, state, and local clients.

Responsibilities

• Work within a team of professionals in developing transportation designs and solutions for a multitude of transportation and highway-related projects
• Highway planning and design
• Drainage and Stormwater modeling and/or design
• Traffic control development
• Conceptual, preliminary, and final design plans
• Contract documents, including specifications
• Engineer’s construction cost estimates

Skills and Attributes

• Strong computer skills (MicroStation / InRoads / OpenRoads, AutoCAD / Civil3D, HyrdroCAD experience, a plus)
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Comfortable working independently, as well as on a team
• Familiarity with NHDOT project development, a plus
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work in an office or virtual environment
• Detail oriented, self-motivated, and committed
• Ability to handle multiple concurrent projects

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil Engineering required (a master’s be substituted for 2 years’ experience)
• 3-5 years transportation/highway design engineering experience required
• 5-8 years transportation engineering experience preferred
• EIT preferred
