ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB’s Virginia Beach, VA office is seeking a dynamic and talented Transportation Designer to join our team.

Responsibilities

• Work within a team of professionals in developing transportation designs and solutions for a multitude of transportation and highway-related projects
• Highway planning and design
• Trail planning and design
• Stormwater modeling and/or design
• Traffic control development
• Conceptual, preliminary and final design plans
• Contract documents, including specifications
• Engineer’s construction cost estimates

Skills and Attributes

• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Comfortable working independently as well as on a team
• Engage with multi-discipline design team(s)
• Ability to work in an office or virtual environment
• Detail oriented, self-motivated, and committed
• Strong computer skills
• Critical thinking and problem solving
• Ability to handle multiple concurrent projects

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering 
• 0-1 year of professional transportation engineering experience
• EIT preferred
• MicroStation, AutoCAD / Civil3D, InRoads, HyrdroCAD experience a plus
• Familiarity with VDOT project development a plus
