Job Summary:

The Human Resources Specialist serves as an integral part of the HR team. Responsible specifically for recruiting and benefits, the HR Specialist also serves as a back-up to all HR functions, with the exception of payroll.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Daily job duties of human resources specialists include:

Workforce Planning and Employment

• Implementing the organizations recruiting strategy
• Screening applicants and scheduling/interviewing applicants
• Extend offers and coordinate onboarding schedule

Employee Benefits

• Assists with the negotiation of new benefit plans
• Responsible for benefit training for new employees
• Ensures employees are added to our benefit plans and terminated as needed
• Responsible for the open enrollment process
• Maintenance of the 403(b) plan; attend quarterly review meetings; enroll/terminate employees in the plan

Employee Relations

• Assisting with processing employee grievances and investigation

Leaves of Absences

• Process requests for leaves of absence
• Coordinate paperwork with appropriate medical personnel and employee(s)
• Coordinate time off with Payroll

Other tasks as assigned

Requirements and Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree in business or related field.
• At least 5 years experience in an HR-related position
• Excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
• Proven ability to handle confidential information with high level of discretion, tact, judgment and poise and must have a solid aptitude for customer/client service and response
• Comprehensive knowledge of the policies and operations of the organization
• Works independently under general instructions on a wide variety of special projects at the same time exhibit to a high degree an ability to work well with other staff, Board members and other individuals and organizations
• Demonstrated proactive approaches to problem-solving with strong decision making capability
• Emotional maturity and highly resourceful team-player
• Demonstrated ability to achieve high performance goals and meet deadlines
• Forward thinker, who actively seeks opportunities and proposes solutions

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to bend and lift light objects
• Ability to sit for extended periods of time while viewing a computer monitor
• Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard
• Capable of hearing and speaking to exchange information
• Seeing to read reports and data
• Ability to speak English
• Must be able to work in a noisy, busy environment.

Covid-19 Requirements:

VVSD requires require all employees to be fully vaccinated and boosted (once, but may change per contract requirements) for COVID-19. All prospective hires will be expected to provide proof of full vaccination as part of the pre-employment credentialing process.
