Veterans Inc. is Hiring a Staff Accountant Near Worcester, MA

With the belief that they were there when we needed them, so we must be there now that they need us, Veterans Inc., the largest provider of supportive services to Veterans and their families in New England, is seeking to fill the Grant Accountant position and become a valued member of Veterans Inc. team!

This individual would report to the Accounting Manager and must demonstrate the ability to work within the philosophy and mission of the Veterans Inc., exhibit ethical conduct, integrity, and effective interpersonal communication. Maintain compliance with Department of Veterans Services (DVS), Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), and Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) regulations and standards.

WHAT YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR DAY TO DAY:

  • Management of cash drawdowns.
  • Provide quarterly financial reports for Board Meetings.
  • Reports management pertaining to Audits, Annual Reports, FEMA Reports, and Month End Reports.
  • Management of special and capital projects regarding budgets, drawdowns, and reports.
  • Organization of salary reserve contract.
  • Track restricted donations.
  • Changes and approvals pertaining to GPD rate.
  • Familiarity of all grant requirements.
  • Full-time employee schedule for Form 990.
  • Reconciliation of quarterly payroll tax returns.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports in accordance with the organizational policies, priorities, and resources.
  • Responsible for grant quarterly and close out reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU MUST HAVE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or relevant field of study. Master's Degree, MBA, CPA, or other professional accounting license/designation preferred
  • Minimum of three years experience in accounting, non-profit finance, or relevant area.
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable accounts payable/general ledger systems and procedures, financial chart of accounts and corporate procedures, Federal and state financial regulations
  • Strong problem solving skills, basic accounting principles knowledge, documentation skills, research and resolution skills, data analysis and multi-tasking skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of office management and Budget (OMB) Circulars pertaining to nonprofit organizations preferred
  • Must be able to successfully pass a CORI/Background records check.
  • Compliance with Veterans Inc. COVID-19 Vaccination Policy. Religious and Medical Exemptions are considered.
