VetCentric is Hiring a System Administrator (Onsite at Iowa City Federal Building) Near Iowa City, IA

Position Summary:

As a System Administrator, you'll work as a team member supporting the Veterans Affairs with a large PC deployment. In this role, you will independently handle offsite training setup, troubleshooting, and deployment. You will also be deploying, imaging, and setting up equipment (PCs, laptops, docking stations, monitors, printers, and scanners) around the VA medical center campus and offsite location, removing the old equipment and installing new equipment with limited supervision. As part of this role, you will also provide status reports to leadership. This role requires a combination of strong technical skills with an emphasis on delivering quality customer service as you will be directly working w/ the clients.
This position is located onsite at Veterans' Administration Medical Centers and at offsite training locations with daytime hours, occasional evening hours, and the potential for weekend hours.

Location(s): Iowa City, Iowa, US. Candidates from HUBZones preferred.

Employment Eligibility: Eligible to work for any employer in the United States without requiring sponsorship. Sponsorship is not available currently.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelors in IT, computer science, or electronics engineering with IT experience or 8 years of IT experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Clearance: Ability to obtain a security clearance
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in imaging and installing computer equipment
  • Must be able to unpack, move, and install IT equipment weighing up to 25 pounds with no restrictions.
  • Experience with hardware and software support, troubleshooting, system imaging, hardware break-fix support (i.e., laptops, desktops, and printers), refresh, upgrade, and deployment projects.
  • Experience with conducting routine system administration tasks and logging data in system admin logs
  • Experience with maintaining troubleshooting a wide variety of systems and networks, including high availability systems
  • Experience working in customer-facing roles.
  • Knowledge of debugging protocols and processes.
  • Ability to frequently travel around the site campus transporting equipment to various office buildings.
  • Ability to frequently stoop, crouch, and reach to setup/remove computers/pull cords under desks and in server closets.
  • Ability to work independently and provide excellent customer service while working directly with clients.
