Description

Position Purpose:

The IT Systems Specialist is an integral part of the IT support team who troubleshoots and resolves all organization wide IT issues. The job duties assigned to this role will include supporting employee/staff IT needs via remote access and desk-side support, installation of hardware and software, support of iPhones, and other IT-related duties to support and resolve technical issues. In this role, you will be hands-on with PC hardware and software. You will provide HelpDesk Tier 1 technical support and training to system users to help them become more efficient and successful in their use of technology. You will also be responsible for tracking and monitoring ongoing tasks, distributing reports, and participating in special projects. Candidates will ensure end-user computer issue needs are resolved and documented in a friendly, helpful, and timely manner. Contributes to the Foodbank’s relationship with Feeding America, our outsource vendor for technology systems. A high level of internal customer service is essential.

 This position is a full time hourly position with the pay anticipated to start at $25 to $28.37 based on relevant experience, education, and etc. To be considered please submit an employment application with a resume and cover letter attached.

Requirements

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Works cooperatively and be able to communicate with staff and volunteers to support the mission of the Foodbank to meet and sustain Foodbank goals.
  • Positively contribute to an organizational culture of safe and secure food handling, warehousing, and distribution.
  • The Foodbank relies on volunteers every day to fulfill our mission. All Foodbank employees must support our culture of philanthropy by treating every volunteer with appreciation and respect.
  • Fields incoming support requests from end-users via telephone, e-mail, Teams, help desk tickets, in a courteous and helpful manner.
  • Determine nature and scope of the customer's issue, provide appropriate response, and escalation of issue as needed.
  • Documents, diagnoses, resolves, and closes customer issues. Promptly escalates issues when necessary.
  • Follows up with users to ensure issues have been resolved.
  • Provides end-user desktop training and minor hardware/peripheral repair as appropriate to assist with problem resolution.
  • Performs new hire orientation password and basic computer set-up and navigation training.
  • Updates Teams, Outlook and copier contact information for new hires and staff that leave.
  • Writes or revises user-training manuals and procedures.
  • Evaluates unresolved issues and monitors follow-up to ensure timely resolution.
  • Identifies and learns about software and hardware used and supported by the organization.
  • Performs preventative maintenance, including checking and cleaning of workstations, printers, and peripherals.
  • Test fixes to ensure problem has been adequately resolved.
  • Performs post-resolution follow-up to requests.
  • Provides general technical support for networks, PCs, printers, and other miscellaneous hardware and software.
  • Identifies and recommends solutions for network security.
  • Monitors computer and network performance.
  • Research new technologies and solutions.
  • Serve as liaison between Feeding America and Foodbank staff to triage network and personal computer issues and to ensure timely follow up with technology related tickets.
  • Provide timely support for Network Partners utilizing Foodbank’s software and equipment.
  • Monitor and manage the Foodbank’s IT systems which include computers, networks, internet access, telephone lines, cell phones and other technology.
  • This position will occasionally be required to travel to other Foodbank locations and to attend required meetings, trainings, etc. Some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected
  • In instances of a federal, state or locally declared emergency, Vermont Foodbank is typically considered an essential service and emergency responder; all employees may be called in to perform regular or emergent duties.

Other Functions: 

  • Serve on applicable Feeding America and Vermont Foodbank committees and discussion groups. Attend regularly scheduled Feeding America follow up meetings.
  • Work with Equity, People & Culture to deploy computer and information resources for new hires and to deactivate employees in a timely manner.
  • Visit off-site branches at least quarterly for on-site support. 
  • Performs other duties or special projects as required or as assigned.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • The requirements listed below are representative of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and/or abilities an individual needs in order to perform this job successfully. 

Education and/or Experience:

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience supporting information technology, including hardware, software, and systems administration.
  • Demonstrated experience in IT help desk support.
  • Understanding of basic computer hardware components and possesses skills to repair and replace.
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar direct customer service position.
  • Computer science related associates degree or proven technical aptitude through specialized certification, or other means.

Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to coordinate priorities and exercise appropriate judgment and discretion.
  • Knowledge of a variety of software, i.e., Microsoft Office applications, Enterprise Platforms, Raisers Edge, Navision, Ceres, HRIS, etc…
  • Project management ability.
  • Knowledge of inventory control for the purpose of ensuring that necessary equipment and replacement parts are always on hand.
  • Ability to interact professionally and effectively with all levels of management, staff, and external clients.
  • May be required to come in during nights, weekends, or holidays if an operational emergency occurs.

Language Skills:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills for communicating with employees in all departments.

Technical/Computer Skills:

  • Minimum of 1-3 years hands-on Windows Server Administration experience which encompasses maintaining a Microsoft Infrastructure (Active Directory domains, DNS, DHCP, File Sharing and Permissions, Group Policies, etc.).
  • Minimum of 1-3 years hands-on network management experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year supporting virtualization and working in Public Cloud Infrastructures (Azure, AWS, etc.).
  • Experience supporting security infrastructure - firewalls, IPS/IDS, VPN, and monitoring tools.
  • Experience with VOIP Telephone System Management.
  • Experience managing Microsoft Office 365 environments. 

Certifications/Licenses/Registrations:

  • A valid Vermont Driver’s License.
  • 3-year motor vehicle report (MVR) showing a clean driving record.
