Responsible for selecting, training, coaching, and retaining successful Territory Sales Representatives for the dealership. As well as driving a high-level of performance among the sales team to increase market share, achieve targeted sales goals and profit margins. This is a leadership role that partners closely with the General Manager, the Parts Department, the Service Department, all Vermeer Southwest Sales Representatives and Managers, and other departments within Vermeer Southwest to ensure strong customer satisfaction while meeting company objectives. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: (Essential Functions) 1. Sell whole-goods, parts, and service as a customer solution and build long term relationships within their territory to maximize customer and company profitability. 2. Effectively understand and use manufacturers’ programs and resources to attain acceptable market share levels. 3. Use Company provided systems/tools to fully document, track, record, follow-up and capture all related sales activity in a timely and accurate manner. Use of the system should contribute directly to the proposal process, winning the sale, volume, territory awareness, participation, and customer satisfaction. 4. Develop a keen awareness of the competition and competitive products, as well as business and industry trends. 5. Coordinate and/or conduct field demonstrations as well as operate machinery at customer work site. 6. Maintain strong knowledge of used equipment values and be able to evaluate properly for trading purposes. 7. Work in conjunction with Corporate Management for follow-up and expediting of whole good orders. 8. Accountable for timely follow up on each sale to ensure customer satisfaction. 9. Coordinate and/or communicate with customers and applicable departments to ensure timely delivery. 10. Coordinate pickup and delivery of equipment as needed. 11. Follow all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments and adhere to all policies and procedures as specified in company manuals and as directed in the employee handbook. 12. Conduct self in the presence of customers and community so as to present a professional image of Vermeer Southwest. 13. Proactively seek and participate in available company-sponsored training, in an effort to develop and advance knowledge base and skill set. 14. Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with peers, management, and support resources, with a constant commitment to teamwork and exemplary customer service. 15. Perform all other duties as assigned by management in a professional and efficient manner. Minimum Qualifications • Bachelor Degree and one (1) year sales experience or five (5) years of sales experience required. • At least two (2) years of experience managing direct reports. • Must have strong knowledge of the industry, construction equipment knowledge preferred. • Excellent oral and written communication skills. • Computer literate with basic competence in Microsoft Word & Excel. • High degree of attention to detail and deadline driven. • Valid Driver’s License, with the ability to obtain/maintain a Class “A” CDL and insurability.
