Job Description

Verisk are seeking a motivated Staff Accountant join the Corporate Finance team based in Edinburgh. In this role you will work alongside the Verisk Corporate Accounting teams in the UK and globally to provide a high-quality customer service to the Verisk business units and management team.

In this role you will:

  • Actively participate in monthly closing process, including expense and balance sheet account analysis pertaining to owned areas
  • Create and record monthly and ad-hoc journal entries into the PeopleSoft accounting system
  • Assist in financial analysis and ad-hoc projects, as needed
  • Perform corporate accounting related functions for Verisk.
  • Perform accounting related functions for subsidiaries of Verisk.
  • Assist in quarterly and annual audit requests and financial reporting
  • Take ownership for core accounting processes (e.g. prepayment, fixed assets)
  • Complete assigned responsibilities for ad-hoc projects
  • Liaise with Business Units to ensure completeness & accuracy of monthly results
  • Ensure compliance with group SOX controls and maintain appropriate documentation

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years relevant work experience
  • Part/full qualification beneficial but not essential
  • Accounting degree preferred but not essential
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel-extensive knowledge of Pivot Table / Chart, Macros, etc.)
  • Excellent communication / documentation skills (oral and written)
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task and set priorities
  • Detail oriented, meticulous and extremely diligent
  • Excellent client service, team work and diplomacy skills
  • Adaptable to a fast-paced environment
