Overview

The Controller is responsible for leading and supervising all accounting, treasury management and financial reporting functions – all with an ongoing focus on driving continuous process improvement and enhanced financial controls. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller will lead the monthly close and financial reporting process, treasury and cash management, payroll and all external audit responsibilities. The position will also partner cross-functionally to identify and implement opportunities to both improve and streamline business processes. The Controller is also responsible for leading a team of three direct reports.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Leading, developing, motivating and coaching a team of three direct reports
  • Leading and supporting accounting operational functions
    • Including monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial close
    • Billing/invoicing (A/R), Accounts Payable and payroll administration
    • Journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
    • Coordinating and recording investments and fixed asset records

Roles & Responsibilities (continued):

  • Managing the development and consolidation of all financial data necessary for the accurate accounting and reporting of consolidated business results
  • Providing management with timely and accurate information vital to supporting optimal decision-making
  • Analyzing and interpreting balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow
  • Treasury oversight: overseeing, tracking and maintaining, and overseeing cash inflows and outflows from bank operating accounts
  • Developing and preparing borrowing base certificates, as required
  • Leading the preparation of internal and external financial documents, statements and activities in support of external auditors
  • Developing, implementing and maintaining financial controls and guidelines
  • Documenting processes and ensuring compliance with financial management and accounting regulations
  • Developing and monitoring business performance metrics
  • Supporting regulatory reporting, including tax planning and compliance
  • Other duties as assigned

What you’ll need:Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field; Master’s degree a plus
  • Strong working knowledge of regulatory accounting standards (GAAP)
  • Minimum 10-15 years’ experience in accounting/finance; prior controllership experience a plus
  • Leadership experience in corporate finance, financial reporting, general ledger management, variance analysis and treasury
  • Working knowledge of federal, state and local tax compliance regulation and reporting
  • Prior experience in the Consumer-Packaged Goods (CPG) space a plus
