OPERATIONS MANAGER (LOGISTICS & OPERATIONS)

POSITION DETAILS:

Job Type: Full-Time

FLSA: Exempt

Schedule: Monday – Friday; 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Location: 1155 South G Ave, Nevada, Iowa 50201

WHAT WE WILL EXPECT FROM YOU

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of work experience in or mix of:
    • Logistics operations planning/scheduling
    • Team supervision and/or Management
    • Biofuels (Biodiesel, Bioethanol, Biogas) or Agriculture industry
    • Business administration
  • Additional Knowledge of:
    • Contract and logistics terms related to biofuels and Ag
    • Railroad & Trucking
    • Laws, regulations, and ISO requirements
    • Incoterms (International commercial terms)
    • Accounting processes in the agriculture, supply chains and transportation
    • ERP systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, World, PPT, Outlook)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or Supply chain management. Or a comparable course of studies.
  • Ability to interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders, use tact and diplomacy and possess a customer service focus.
  • Possess the ability to follow oral and written instructions including operating manuals, procedures, and policies.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational competencies and attention to detail.
  • Manage priorities under pressure.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to overcome obstacles: develop solutions to routine problems following established Verbio policies and procedures. Involvement in team efforts to solve more complex or cross-functional problems.
  • Comply with all procedures, policies, and requirements necessary to maintain a safe workplace.
  • Must be able to make prompt, informed decisions while working independently with minimum supervision. Follows directions and understands what needs to be done and will complete work without direction.
  • Capable of working independently and making decisions with limited supervision with a customer-oriented approach.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and to build relationships with excellent time management skills.
  • Demonstrate effective teamwork by being willing to share knowledge and assist teammates whenever it is required.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Flexibility and willing to work on the weekend and when required

Responsibilities:

Verbio North America is seeking a motivated professional to join a dynamic team. VNA is a subsidiary of VERBIO AG, a well-established, successful biofuel company in Germany. VERBIO produces innovative biofuels, such as Biodiesel, Bioethanol and Biogas/Renewable Natural Gas (RNG), and feed and fertilizers as well as bio-components for the pharmaceutical, cosmetics and food industries.

The Operations Manager works in close collaboration with the plant and all the other internal stakeholders to ensure the proper scheduling of Verbio’s logistics activities. He/she will supervise the contract administration (entries and execution) for the biorefinery activities. In addition, he/she will ensure that data is recorded accurately in the ERP system. This person is the liaison between the site logistics coordinators and the Head of Logistics & Operations (L&O). This is a full-time salaried position.

  • Coordinate the scheduling of inbound and outbound freight movements for the biorefinery plant.
  • Develop, structure and organize the corn procurement process in coordination with VEA.
  • Create and improve process documentation for corn stover, humus and liquid fertilizers contract management operations.
  • Implement Key Performance Indicators (KPI) & metrics.
  • Provide guidance to and lead the Nevada L&O team
  • Develop monthly reporting and analysis of Logistics and Commercial activities.
  • Ensure accurate data entry in the ERP system
  • Track and help fix logistics errors
  • Be the local ERP point of contact for the L&O team.
  • Contribute to the introduction and improvement of planning & reporting tools as well as internal processes by leveraging operational knowledge.
  • Assist with the compliance requirements (EPA, LCFS, railcars regulatory maintenance, etc.).
  • Work with the Accounting and VEA teams to ensure timely payment of all operations charges to the suppliers.
  • Monitor and manage budgets
  • Develop and maintain relationship with Verbio’s suppliers (railroad, trucking companies, etc.), Verbio’s customers and internal stakeholder.
  • Maintain all VEN folders up to date and properly classified.
  • Respond to and handle issues after hours and on the weekends as necessary
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

ABOUT US:

The VERBIO Nevada Biorefinery, located in Nevada, Iowa (USA), is the first industrial scale renewable natural gas (RNG) facility in North America using agricultural residues as its feedstock. The plant is 100% owned by VERBIO North America Holdings Corporation.

RNG production from corn stover began in December 2021 with the completion of Phase I, at a capacity of 7 million ethanol gallons equivalent (EGE) per year. Upon completion of Phase II in the 4th quarter of 2022, the site will begin operating as a biorefinery, producing 60 million gallons of corn-based ethanol and an additional 19 million (EGE) of RNG from stillage. The integration of RNG and ethanol production, unique to VERBIO, incorporates advanced operational technology currently practiced at the company’s facilities in Germany. The process also yields humus, a soil amendment, and organic fertilizers.

VERBIO Vereinigte BioEnergie AG (VERBIO AG), with headquarters in Leipzig, Germany, is a leading independent manufacturer of biofuels and bioenergy in Germany and Europe.
