Senior Business Development Manager

Position Overview

Venture Solar Commercial seeks a dynamic, motivated individual that will lead our growing Business Development Department. They will be responsible for lead generation, proposal presentation, and deal closing. This individual will be foundational in the initial expansion of Venture Commercial’s Business and has uncapped room for growth.

Our ideal candidate has a strong background in Commercial & Industrial solar sales and a proven track record of closing deals. They will have a consummate knowledge of the commercial solar sales process, understand solar financing, and know how to scale a sales pipeline.

This position will be a remote home base, with frequent travel required throughout the Northeast US and Westchester County (NY, NJ, CT, MA). 

Job Type: Full-time, salaried

Pay: $80,000/yr guaranteed, drawn off commission

Responsibilities:

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead generation within relevant territories
  • Initial review and due diligence of potential candidates
  • Scale and manage a pipeline with clear goals
  • Completion of bill analyses 
  • In-person presentations for client-facing proposal meetings
  • General Business Development support re: lead generation/tracking, proposal generation, client communications, and departmental direction
  • Assist in securing assorted financing structures for all projects

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Tracking of relevant state and federal incentive programs, providing up-to-date information on all existing rebates and incentives 
  • Client communication support post-contract
  • Expanding index of financiers and financing options

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience in renewables, solar PV industries.
  • Strong familiarity with the solar industry (terms, process, concepts, and goals) as well as financing and renewable energy systems.
  • Experience with self-generating leads
  • Proven track record of contract executions for C&I-scale solar PV projects 
  • Ability to manage and train a sales team
  • Proven understanding of financing structures and proposal generation
  • Understanding of solar-specific incentives and policy landscape for relevant territories.
  • Proficient computer skills and knowledge of basic softwares, such as Microsoft Office suite, Google suite, etc.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working directly with utilities in any capacity.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce.
  • Knowledge of typical electrical utility interconnection means and methods.
  • Understanding of renewable project development and construction process.
