Description

A massage therapist is responsible for treating clients through soft tissue manipulation while maintaining a safe and relaxing experience. The therapist should be good at perceiving client wishes and needs through spoken language, body language and other cues and modifying their treatments accordingly.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Provide our members and guests with professional, friendly, and appropriate services.
Provide 3060-minute massage to clients by appointment.
Guide clients through service offerings and determine which massage would benefit them most.
Take a detailed client history and note any health conditions.
Evaluate clients to determine painful or stressed areas of the body.
Advise clients on stretching, strengthening or relaxation methods.
Suggest future massage appointments and regime to clients.
Listen to clients during appointments and adjust technique as they desire.
Maintain inventory, stock massage room with supplies needed.
Maintain cleanliness of massage rooms.
Service offerings, retail merchandise and other spa services.
Maintain a cooperative working relationship with co-workers and guests.

Qualifications

Skills/ Abilities

Must possess good verbal and written skills.
Ability to manage a wide variety of activities at the same time.
The ability to concentrate for extended periods of time.
Ability to provide clients with guidance and information about techniques for postural improvement and stretching, strengthening, relaxation and rehabilitative exercises.
Ability to Assess clients' soft tissue condition, joint quality and function, muscle strength, and range of motion.
Ability to develop and propose client treatment plans that specify which types of massage are to be used.
Education/Experience:

High school Diploma or GED.
Completed massage program from an accredited school with at least 700 hours of study.
Trained in Swedish, deep tissue, hot stone massage, wraps and scrubs.
State of Arizona Massage license.
Continuing Education credits, as required.
Proven experience working as a massage therapist.
Must possess good verbal, written and listening skills.
Able to apply basic math skills.
Experience working in a spa preferred.
Demonstrated sales and customer service skills.
Time management abilities.

Physical Requirements:
Frequently exerting 10-15 pounds of force to massage, lift, carry, push, or pull.
Repetitive movements.
Ability to be physically active for long periods without getting tired or out of breath.
Ability to properly use body mechanics during client procedures, stooping, kneeling, reaching, manual dexterity and tactile sensitivity are required to effectively perform massage therapy techniques.
Exposure to water, chemicals, and cleaning agents.
