Velocity Works is seeking an experienced and dedicated Principal Software Engineer to fill a direct hire full time remote opportunity for our client’s teams. We are looking for a skilled back-end developer with experience developing applications in an event driven microservice architecture. This is a great opportunity for the right candidate to become a technical expert on all aspects of microservice architecture, design, and development.

Primary duties and responsibilities:

• Leads team as a technical expert, developer, and architect on large and complex projects.
• Must be professional, have strong communication skills, be detail-oriented and organized, have the ability to switch between multiple projects, and be able to work independently and as part of a team.

Education and Experience:

• A Bachelor’s degree with 4 years development experience or Associates degree with 7 years development experience
• Seeking experience in developing applications within the following frameworks, technologies, and tools or strong interest in learning and expanding in these areas:
  • Event driven Microservice Architecture
  • Java (Spring Boot framework), NodeJS, REST API, JSON
  • Message Queue – e.g. RabbitMQ
  • RDBMS – Oracle, PostgreSQL
  • NoSQL Database - MongoDB
  • Elastic Stack (ELK)
  • Cloud platform services (AWS)
  • CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins server, tomcat
