Bridge Tender (Stickney Pt Road)

Job Description

The Bridge Tender operates movable bridges over navigable waterways by local, state, and federal regulations. As Bridge Tender, you will act rationally and calmly in abnormal circumstances and notify local authorities, repair technicians, supervisors, and our client to ensure proper and safe bridge operations.

Success Criteria

• Follow all company procedures, policies, and rules.
• Provide safe, courteous openings for marine traffic.
• Provide a safe passage for vehicle traffic, cyclists, and pedestrians.
• Follow all safety protocols.
• Inform the supervisor immediately of all incidents, malfunctions, and accidents.
• Ensure the safety of maintenance personnel.

• The ability to read and comprehend FDOT and U.S. Coast Guard manuals, rules, regulations, and procedures.

• The ability to effectively communicate in English on the VHF marine radio.

Key Accountabilities

• A solid commitment to company service values.
• Maintain neat, accurate logs.
• Check supply inventory and report deficiencies to the supervisor.
• Call for traffic control and emergency services as needed.
• Maintain a clean and orderly workspace.
• Compile and review EOM (end of the month) materials for the supervisor.
• Build rapport with delivery vendors.
• Assist other departments as needed.
