Summary: VES is looking for a Project Engineer to join our team in our Kingwood, Texas location. This role manages and leads projects within the engineering group with cross functional teams. Drives actions forward and sets goals for team to meet financial, efficiency and productivity goals. Uses knowledge of engineering, manufacturing, operational & materials principles to set project priority and goals. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Lead project teams from creation, planning and execution phases using Varel’s project management tools. Create accountability for team members to achieve deadlines. Host stage gate meetings to ensure communication and approvals are obtained through the process.
• Support engineering and supply chain by reviewing materials and components as needed. Approve dispositions and NCR’s as necessary.
• Follow up on closed projects to reassess and confirm impact. Implement lessons learned into new projects where possible.
• Establish test methods alongside relevant teammates to validate and verify the quality of the result.

Education and/or Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably in Mechanical or Materials Engineering from an accredited institution or 10 years of industry experience in related products.
• Experience in mechanical downhole and/or mechanical service equipment.
• Understanding of fundamental design tools such as threaded connections, seals, surface finishing, heat treating, welding and brazing, fundamentals of kinematics, etc.
• Understands the key limitations and advantages of manufacturing the product in different manners.
• Understanding of the theoretical calculations as they apply to the design of the product.
• General knowledge of typical discipline-specific drawings and documents, their content, and how they relate to each other.
