Vantage Airport Group is Hiring a Facilities Manager Near New York, NY

We are excited to be part of another significant redevelopment project. As part of JFK Millennium Partners (“JMP”), the preferred partner of Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Vantage has been selected to design, build, finance, operate, and maintain Terminal 6 and 7 at John F. Kennedy (“JFK”) International Airport. For this project, Vantage has partnered with American Triple I (ATI), a 100% minority and woman owned investor and developer, and RXR Realty, a leading New York commercial real estate development firm, with AECOM Hunt as the design-build team. The project is to proceed in two phases of construction, with the first phase to include the development of the new Terminal 6 headhouse and departures area on a vacant site adjacent to the existing Terminal 7. Once that has been completed, JMP will demolish the existing Terminal 7 and construct an additional five gates, after which, JMP would then manage, operate and maintain the new facilities.

The Role

The Facilities Manager supports the development and implementation of the plans and programs required to ensure the operations of Terminal 7 (T7) with a primary focus on safety, security, operational performance and customer service as it applies to the facility. Working with the Director, Facilities and Technology, the role with work with the operations and project teams to optimize the Terminal 7 experience while providing support to the new Terminal 6.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supports the implementation of plans and programs to ensure the optimum operating life of T7 facilities and technology in a safe and efficient manner
  • Oversees effective asset management and reporting, and inventory control of all assets
  • Supports the maintenance of facilities and technology – including the HVAC, elevators, escalators and baggage systems in a cost-effective manner
  • Makes effective use of technology in managing maintenance activities such as preventive maintenance
  • Fosters a culture of environmental stewardship and sustainability within Facilities/ Engineering/Maintenance
  • Collaborates with the Project Team on technical (engineering) and facility operating and maintenance matters in relation to the phased construction of the new T6, including coordination, testing, commissioning and implementation
  • Support the planning and coordination of all installations, including heat, electricity, telecommunications, collaborating with internal teams as appropriate
  • Reviews and compares performance against operating plans, standards, and customer service expectations as stipulated in contractual documents and in airline agreements; works to solve problems and overcome recurring issues to meet business requirements and achieve desired service levels
  • Follows processes in place to track, evaluate, and report on inspections, repair requests, incidents / claims / accidents involving the facilities and provides input as appropriate
  • Inspect building and facilities to determine need for repairs or upgrades
  • Directs, controls, and oversees budget spending, planned projects, labor efficiency, material efficiency, and engineering effectiveness; takes the lead in prioritizing the work of the department and provides timely reports regarding departmental deliverables
  • Supports the development and implementation of Emergency Response Plan
  • Maintains compliance with safety, security and regulatory standards, including maintenance of relevant records.
  • Other duties as required or assigned from time to time

About you

  • 5 plus years in a complex facilities management role including 3-5 years in a supervisory capacity, preferably in an aviation or airport setting
  • Experience working effectively in a regulated and safety sensitive environment
  • A relevant undergraduate degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience in crisis management and incident command preferred
  • Capital project management experience preferred
  • Experience working with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey on facility related items including approval processes preferred
  • Track record of successfully managing and motivating teams; able to lead training
  • Excellent written and verbal communications
  • Organization and planning skills crucial for multi-tasking while prioritizing and executing tasks
  • Ability to diffuse and manage situations in high pressure situations 

About you

You have strong operational experience within an international airport or other transportation hub and your professional experience is supplemented by a relevant degree from an accredited university. You are a collaborative team player who also enjoys working independently and are comfortable working with a diverse set of stakeholders.

  • demonstrated business acumen coupled with strategic, analytical and creative skills
  • an ability to manage multiple projects, while staying on budget and delivering on time without compromising quality
