Job Description

Vanir Group is actively seeking a Chief Financial Officer to join our team in Sacramento, CA. The ideal candidate is highly entrepreneurial with a global perspective and has experience in construction and commercial real estate. Experience with managing a family office and high net worth individuals is a plus. The CFO has the primary responsibility of managing the company’s finances, IT and legal departments including strategic financial planning, management of financial risks, financial reporting, cost accounting, analysis of data and cash and business forecasting. Reporting to the CEO, the CFO is an integral member of the organization and will work closely with senior management to achieve yearly goals and objectives. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• We are looking for someone who considers themselves in the top 5% of all CFOs for midsize firms
• Provides leadership, direction and management of the finance, accounting, IT and legal teams
• Provides strategic recommendations to the founders and members of the executive management team pertaining to long-term business and financial planning and sustainability
• Monitors and directs the implementation of strategic business plans
• Manages the processes for financial forecasting and budgets 
• Oversees the preparation of all financial reporting including internal, external 
• Prepares and delivers regular Board of Directors presentations
• Establishes and develops relationships with senior management and external partners and stakeholders including banks, PE firms, JV partners and development partners 
• Reviews all formal finance related procedures 
• Provides leadership in the proper application of generally accepted accounting policies, procedures and tax compliance 
• Manages the internal and external audit function, including audits by contracting agencies 
• Constructs and monitor reliable internal control systems 
• Provides accuracy and integrity of financial records, including ledgers, journals, and contract financial records 
• Prepares monthly accrual basis financial reports of income and expenses, receivables, payables and bank balances and other financial reports and analysis as required 
• Revises, as necessary, the Financial Policies and Procedures Manual
• Regular multi-day domestic travel is required
• Other such duties as shall be assigned 

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field is required; MBA is highly desirable. 
• Minimum 10 years of increasing responsibility in corporate finance experience required

• Global forward-thinking entrepreneurial perspective

• A cohesive ability at interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and written 

• Creative and effective manager, leader and supervisor 

• Able to engage with staff at all levels of the organization and exercise sound judgment

• Able to develop and articulate clear goals and objectives 

• Excellent organizational and time-management skills; responsive and good at follow-through 

• Advanced computer and Excel skills, adept at applying technology to increase productivity

• Knowledge of Deltek and Yardi financial and reporting capabilities helpful 

• Family Office or PE firm experience desirable
• Construction and commercial real estate development experience highly desirable
