Job Summary: The storekeeper is responsible for receiving and stocking deliveries according to the hospital standards.

Department Summary:. The goal of Nutrition Services is to provide excellent care to patients and their families during their visit to Vanderbilt Medical Center. Our team of Registered Dietitians or "RDs" are part of the medical team assigned to meet the needs of each patient. In addition, a wide variety of choices for eating at the Medical Center are available to visitors and family members. Our facilities include the Courtyard Cafe located at The Vanderbilt Clinic, the Vandy Cafe located in the Monroe Carell Jr Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, and several kiosks located throughout the Medical Center campus that serve food & beverages. The Nutrition Services Department serves approximately 1500 patient meals per day and more than 5000 employees and guests are served daily. The Nutrition Services Department employs approximately 240 staff.

Shift Hours:

  • 6:00am – 2:30pm, must be available to work on the
  • Sign on Bonus - $2,000

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Receives and maintains documentation of goods delivered .
  • Counts and/or weighs in all deliveries verifying accuracy of shipment.
  • Unpacks items received, inspects for damage and/or defects.
  • Packs, marks and ships all merchandise to be returned to vendor.
  • Checks items received against those listed on the invoice.
  • Notifies supervisor immediately of discrepancies.
  • Inventories, stocks goods and delivers supplies and equipment to appropriate location.
  • Stores items in the following fashion: perishables first, frozen, and finally staples.
  • Stores all items in the appropriate location delivering to location as needed.
  • Stores items so that the label is visible.
  • Rotates all stock by placing newer items behind older items.
  • Returns unused supplies immediately to the proper storage area.
  • Completes inventory of stockroom per established procedure.
  • Assembles supplies per requisition/standard.
  • Assembles supplies accurately per requisition/standard.
  • Verifies completeness of orders, identifies shortages of items per standard.
  • Maintains sanitation standards.
  • Sweeps and mops floor at established times.
  • Scrubs floors as scheduled.
  • Removes trash daily or as needed; breaks down all boxes.
  • Cleans tables, counters, trash bins, equipment, and walls as assigned
  • Adheres to work schedule.
  • Initiates work processes for self and others to meet time schedules of section/dept.
  • Participates as team member of work unit/department.
  • Trains all assigned staff in storekeeping processes.

Recommends improvements of policies, procedures and work methods to management

    • Occasional: Noise: May include exposure to occupational noise levels which equal or exceed an 8-hr time-weighted average of 85 decibels, requiring enrollment in VUMC's Hearing Conservation Program which includes training, use of hearing protection, and periodic audiometry.

    • Occasional: Chemicals and Gasses: Medications, cleaning chemicals, oxygen, other medical gases used in work area.

    • Occasional: Radiation: May be exposed to occupational radiation, requiring enrollment in VUMC's Radiation Safety Program which includes training, use of personal protective equipment with lead shielding, and personal dose monitoring.
