JOB SUMMARY:

The Division of Hematology and Oncology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center is seeking a qualified Clinical Trials Manager. The position supports high-impact clinical and translational research within Vanderbilt Ingram Cancer Center (VICC) and will manage the full life cycle of select non-therapeutic clinical studies. The individual selected will lead research activities that support the initiatives of the division, manage opening and execution of select non-therapeutic clinical trials, and coordinate research studies and personnel.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage full life cycle of select non-therapeutic clinical studies including but not limited to creation and management of databases, registries for observational studies, and retrospective chart reviews.
  • Independently manage budgetary responsibilities and research contracts for clinical research faculty members
  • Track budget for federal and non-federal grants, development funds and clinical trial studies
  • Develop, negotiate and maintain contract administration
  • Audit and review accounts throughout the year to ensure compliance with the NIH and prepare monthly variance analysis reports and track CME expenditures
  • Manages staff supporting Clinical Trials/ Research activities for the department.
  • Oversee implementation of reports for personnel and investigator funding
  • Serve as liaison between the IRB and the department, obtaining necessary approvals for research projects
  • May work other departments to develop and implement programs in support of the clinical trials/ research activities.
  • Provide instruction on research protocols including interpretation of test results, observations, and related study data to physicians, nurses, professors, teachers, and technician involved.

    • Frequent: Noise: May include exposure to occupational noise levels which equal or exceed an 8-hr time-weighted average of 85 decibels, requiring enrollment in VUMC's Hearing Conservation Program which includes training, use of hearing protection, and periodic audiometry.
    • Continuous: Communication: Expressing or exchanging written/verbal/electronic information.
