ROLE DESCRIPTION

Human Resources Coordinator 

ROLE SUMMARY

In order to serve our employees well, Valor desires to have a highly functioning and exceptionally talented department of HR professionals. As a part of this team, the role of the Human Resources Coordinator is vital to the successful administration and execution of many human resource functions. This position serves as the primary administrator of compliance-related matters within the department as well as a critical liaison for both internal and external HR-related processes. The ability to manage a variety of aspects related to employee records is key and a commitment to excellent customer service is a must. This individual must also become knowledgeable of all areas within the department in order to serve as a back-up when needed. 

This role is ideal for the individual who has a love for people and the Lord Jesus Christ, and is extremely organized and task-oriented. The Coordinator must have exceptional technical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. This person must be comfortable managing multiple tasks at one time while meeting established project deadlines. This person must also be flexible and adaptable to an ever-changing and growing organization. Maintaining the highest degree of confidentiality and developing strong relationships built on trust is key.

This role will maintain an office at the school’s offsite business office location in Littleton, CO but also spend designated time on campus as well.

Human Resources Primary Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a system administrator of the school’s Applicant Tracking System (Jobvite) and a proficient user of the human resource information system (Paylocity)
  • Oversee the administration of the background check process for all new employees as well as manage the rescreening of all returning employees
  • Work closely with Valor’s Athletic department on facilitating the HR processes related to assistant coaches in all Fall, Winter and Spring sports (and summer sports camps) 
  • Follow-up with supervisors and managers to ensure performance evaluations are completed according to the established timeline
  • Ensure role descriptions are updated and in place for all employees and are formatted to the proper template 
  • Ensure the various HR procedure manuals are kept up-to-date and current as new processes are implemented and existing ones revised
  • Maintain all proper documentation in employee digital personnel files 
  • Manage digital employee HR records utilizing the existing human resources information system including job titles, supervisors, positions, emergency contact information, etc
  • Complete all verifications of employment and respond to any unemployment claims as needed
  • Assist employees through the worker’s compensation claim filing process as needed
  • Ensure compliance by managing the I-9 verifications on new employees 
  • Provide budget tracking for the professional development requests for all non-faculty staff members

Human Resources Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Support the recruiting and talent acquisition process as requested
  • Provide support for the publication of the HR Newsletter using the school’s digital platforms 
  • Support manager training efforts as requested by conducting research on leading practices 
  • Generate reports and complete various projects as requested

RESULTS

This role is entrusted by Valor and all employees to maintain professionalism and credibility on human resources practices. They will maintain the utmost confidence and confidentiality regarding personnel matters. This person’s presence on the team will ensure compliance to Valor’s procedures while delivering excellent customer service.

EDUCATION 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, with an emphasis in Human Resources or a related field preferred

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 2 years working in HR or personnel management strongly preferred
  • SHRM-CP or PHR designation preferred
  • Background in employee benefits is a plus but not required

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The same basic physical demands described here are the same for all employees to successfully perform the essential functions of their jobs. Employees must periodically lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and could occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral/depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics are varied and include classroom, office, and outdoor events while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is also varied.
