Title: Safety Administrator

Reports to Human Resources Manager

Working Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (THIS ROLE IS NOT REMOTE)

The Safety Administrator is responsible for facilitating compliance with occupational health and safety (OHS) guidelines. This position’s focus is to always ensure safe working environments and work to prevent injuries and accidents at work.

Summary of Essential Job Functions

  • Work directly with leadership, employees, contractors, and vendors to identify workplace hazards and develop tasks and actions to correct those hazards found.
  • Identify training needs/deficiencies and prioritize training of departments and programs. Design and implement training through in-person or remote training systems to educate leadership and employees in occupational safety and health programs.
  • Plan, review and update existing OSH policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that all policies, procedures, and training are within MIOSHA regulations and standards.
  • Conduct risk assessments, job hazard analyses and departmental audits of all VTP workplaces to assist in identifying, controlling, and eliminating safety and health hazards.
  • Lead in the initiative to promote and implement preventative measures and safety policies.
  • Coordinate and facilitate industrial hygiene testing, audiometric testing, and other testing as required or deemed necessary.
  • Audit departments and facilities for adherence with MIOSHA and EPA rules, regulations, and standards as well as overall cleanliness and organization.
  • Manage and coordinate activities of the safety committee, including meetings, departmental audits, safety action items and employee engagement.
  • Investigate and identify root causes of all workplace accidents and provide feedback and corrective actions to prevent future incidents.
  • Obtain and provide thorough documentation of workplace injuries to workers compensation carriers and continue to assist until claims are resolved.
  • Maintain all information and documentation of chemical inventory in the facility and ensure that it is captured in the GHS/SDS database system.
  • Review and analyze previous injury/incident records and provide feedback and guidance to minimize similar occurrences.

Qualifications

  • 1-5 years’ experience as a Safety Coordinator or similar strongly preferred.
  • Certificate in occupational health and safety strongly preferred.
  • Excellent knowledge of MIOSHA regulations and standards.
  • Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics.
  • Outstanding critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills.

Limited travel may be required 0-25%
