Job Description
The Storage & Virtualization Engineer position is responsible for configuring and maintaining the virtual (VMware vSphere) environment for a nationwide enterprise (supporting over 50 locations). The environment is dynamic and the position requires flexibility and the ability to multitask with varying priorities. Sharing ideas and communication with all members of the team are key to success, as well as working closely with the network, messaging, active directory, and configuration management teams.
This position requires a strong security focus and teamwork.
This is a Jr-Level position and the likely salary range for this position is $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year / annually.
This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Salary will be set based on experience level established during technical interview and contractual requirements.
Occasional weekend or shift work may be required.
Key responsibilities

• Build, configure and maintain virtual machines, servers, and storage solutions.
• Provide diagnostics and technical resolution for any local or remote assets.
• Provide outstanding service by interacting directly with customers seeking resolution.
• Communicate issues and recommendations back to leadership in a clear and concise manner.
• Support other functional teams on a regular basis.

Requirements

• Experience working with VMware vSphere 5.X or higher
• Experience managing and configuring storage solutions (SAN/NAS/FCS)

Necessary Skills

• Basic understanding of storage and backup concepts
• Basic understanding of network and virtualization
• Ability to troubleshoot simple to multi-layered issues
• Ability to read logs and identify more advanced issues
• Experience with Windows Server 2008-2019

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Dell/HP/Cisco storage solutions
• Experience with Dell/HP/Cisco servers
• Experience with PowerCLI, Powershell, ESXi Shell

Certifications and other Requirements

• Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance (US Citizenship required).
• Candidate must be certified in accordance with DoD 8570 IAT Level II approved baseline certifications prior to start date.
• CompTIA Cloud (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
• Drug Screen Required.

Certifications Preferred

• VMware Certified Professional – Datacenter Virtualization 6 (VCP-DCV)
• Dell EMC DCA-ISM (Information Storage and Management)
• Additional industry certifications may be required within specific time frames.
