Job Overview

We are looking for a Data Engineer to join our growing software development team. You will be responsible for expanding and optimizing our data and data pipeline architecture, as well as optimizing data flow and collection for cross functional teams.
You will take responsibility for managing our data, developing reports, and troubleshooting data issues and generally supporting the users of the data.


The ideal candidate is an experienced data pipeline builder and analyst who enjoys optimizing data systems including building them from the ground up. You will support our software developers and product owners on data initiatives and will ensure optimal data delivery architecture is consistent throughout ongoing projects. You must be self-directed and comfortable supporting the data needs of multiple teams, systems and products. The right candidate will be excited by the prospect of optimizing or even re-designing our company's data architecture to support our next generation of products and data initiatives.


Responsibilities


  • Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture

  • Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements.

  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.

  • Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL, NoSQL and Azure data technologies such as Azure Data Factory.

  • Build analytics tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into the data acquired.

  • Work with stakeholders including the Executive, Product, Support and Software teams to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs.

  • Work with data and analytics experts to strive for greater functionality in our data systems.

  • Managing users and user roles.

  • Provide quality assurance of imported data, working with quality assurance analysts if necessary.

  • Helping develop reports and analysis.

  • Managing and designing the reporting environment, including data sources, security, and metadata.

  • Assessing tests and implementing new or upgraded software and assisting with strategic decisions on new systems.

  • Generating reports from single or multiple systems.

  • Providing technical expertise in data storage structures, data mining, and data cleansing.


Qualifications

  • Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases.

  • Familiarity with non-relational database.

  • Experience building and optimizing data pipelines, architectures and data sets.

  • Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets.

  • Build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency and workload management.

  • Experience of manipulating, processing and extracting value from large disconnected datasets.

  • Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.

  • We are looking for a candidate with 2 years of experience in a Data Engineer/Analyst role, who has attained a bachelors or graduate degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems or another quantitative field. They should also have experience using the following software/tools:

    • Experience with relational SQL databases preferably MS SQL.

    • Experience with data pipelines

    • Experience with Azure cloud services

    • Experience with object-oriented/object function languages: C#, Python





  • Ability to work with stakeholders to assess potential risks.

  • Ability to analyze existing tools and databases and provide software solution recommendations.

  • Ability to translate business and technical requirements into non-technical, lay terms.

  • Demonstrated experience in handling large data sets and relational databases.

  • High-level written and verbal communication skills.

Salary : $130,000 - $140,000
