USNC is Hiring a Senior Project Manager Near Oak Ridge, TN

JOB TITLE: Senior Project Manager

DIVISION: Nuclear

LOCATION OF WORK & TRAVEL: Oak Ridge, TN, travel to USNC and supplier locations as necessary to fulfill responsibilities

DESCRIPTION:

The Senior Project Manager is accountable for the planning, execution, reporting and control of assigned projects. Responsibilities include progressive elaboration of the project scope, schedule, cost, resource and risk and associated monitoring, control and reporting of project performance/progress. Projects assigned will require familiarity with, or ability to quickly attain as such, the licensing, construction, installation and startup of nuclear power generation technology. In addition, this role will need to oversee project execution and drive compliance with related regulatory requirements.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop project plans, with a focus on scope identification, critical path planning and identification of resource and budget needed to achieve desired project outcomes
  • Monitor and control project performance and drive a collaborative and safety conscious work environment through active team engagement, team weekly standup meetings, monthly project reviews and management deep dive debriefs
  • Manage activities to achieve established baseline scope and schedule within budget and with needed quality in a safe manner and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Oversee, manage and coordinate vendors and suppliers as needed

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Science. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience: 8-10 years of related experience in project management in industries related to the engineering, construction and/or upgrade of large industrial facilities with 5-7 years in the nuclear field. Applicable Navy nuclear experience equally acceptable.
  • Overall Job Knowledge and Performance: In-depth understanding of project management best practices (such as PMI and/or APM) and familiar with nuclear engineering concepts, principles, and theories.
  • Management: Skilled at managing matrixed project resources, contract personnel and vendors. Demonstrated ability to manage others and coordinate across multiple disciplines to provide design solutions in a timely manner.
  • Nuclear Quality Assurance: Demonstrated understanding of 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, and NQA-1 preferred.

PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCES:

  • Knowledge of project management systems (e.g., Project Management Professional (PMP) certification)
  • Experience implementing diverse quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001)
