About: USA Water Polo is a non-profit organization operating under charter of the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee ("USOPC"). The federation provides play opportunities for all ages, abilities and commitment levels throughout the United States, from sanctioning local tournaments to producing national championships to selecting and training U.S. Olympic Teams.
The Mission of USA Water Polo shall be to grow the sport of water polo throughout the United States and win medals in Olympic, World Championship, and Pan American Games.
Summary:
The Partnership Development Manager is responsible for generating revenue through the sale of marketing partnerships across all business lines in addition to developing solutions that help USA Water Polo (USAWP) continuously improve its marketing and sponsorship programs and most importantly, integration of these programs. You are a creative and organized thought leader with a strong acumen for business development, driven to create and deliver breakthrough and compelling multi-platform marketing solutions. You are skilled at identifying and engaging contacts at brands and in categories we currently do not work with, generating strong prospect volume, and creating new relationships that drive our revenue targets and over-deliver on key marketing objectives for our partners. This position will be responsible for achieving measurable financial results. The Partnership Development Manager will manage and oversee the entire sales process, from prospecting phase for new business to the execution of the contractual agreements with corporate partners. This position reports to the Director of Marketing.
Responsibilities
Sponsorship
● Responsible for establishing new marketing partnerships to achieve annual revenue goals.
● Continually reimagine the status quo and build breakthrough marketing partnerships for new USAWP partners.
● Prepare annual partner reports.
● Conduct cold calls as a way of securing appointments to sell to new prospects among local and national companies.
● Analyze specific marketing needs of prospects based on partner objectives, market strategies, category potential, activation potential and financials.
● Support and work closely with the Director of Marketing
● Effectively present proposals in front of individuals and large groups.
● Develop meaningful business relationships with existing and potential sponsors.
● Communicate well across all areas of the company including broadcast, accounting, marketing, community relations and ticket operations.
● Ensure that current clients receive superior service and complete fulfillment of every contract detail.
● Support other departments with the activation and execution of partnership contracts.
● Assist with marketing events and initiatives.
Event Branding & Management
● Attend as assigned USA Water Polo Signature Events to support partner activation and promotional activities
● Manage signage development and event outfitting, including sponsor-branded elements, working in collaboration with the Events Department and Communications Department
● Manage mascot program (hiring, scheduling of mascot)
Support Functions of the Marketing Department
● Support implementation brand and style guidelines throughout all marketing, event and other branded materials; assist in all materials distribution
● Market research, including collection, analysis and summarization of data and trends
● Additional

QUALIFICATIONS
● 4-Year college degree
● Minimum 3 years work experience in sales/marketing with proven track record of success
● Detail oriented with experience in legal, business analytics and CRM management.
● Previous sports-related corporate partnerships experience required
● Strong attention to detail
● Comfortable presenting/speaking to executive group
● Must be a skilled negotiator with the ability to effectively represent the standards and philosophy of the department.
● Professional demeanor and self-motivating personality, eager to succeed and increase revenue
● Strong verbal and written communication skills with an emphasis on business writing skills
● Excellent ability to establish rapport with others and ability to build strong interpersonal relationships within the corporate community
● Proficient in Microsoft Office –Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
● Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends
● Driver’s license and transportation required
