JOB SUMMARY: Overall responsibility for the critical issues of branch operation and profitability, including budgeting, gross margins, operating expenses, safety, customer service, inventory, equipment, building and vehicles, community relations, accounts receivable and resolution of personnel issues. Supervises and coordinates activities of Plant Operators engaged in producing and repackaging compressed and liquid gases into cylinders. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - Hire, lead, supervise, evaluate, manage, motivate and train employees. - Conduct periodic checks of trucks and storage areas to ensure safe and efficient operation. - Assigns job tasks to drivers according to customer needs, current stock levels, and workers' expertise. - Analyze delivery schedules and estimate man-hour requirements for completion of job assignment. - Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations. - Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet delivery production schedules, using knowledge of customer routes . - Implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, quality of product, and changes working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of work crew. - Ensure all injuries and accidents are properly investigated and reported within 24 hours. - Resolve problems associated with plant operation. - Ensure all safety rules are strictly observed and safety training is regularly scheduled, conducted and documented. - Provide coaching and corrective action promptly, to ensure that poor performers are identified, documented and improved to acceptable performance, or released. - Approve overtime when essential, while keeping overtime at acceptable levels. - Ensure employee complaints, grievances, etc. is effectively handled. - Ensure pre-employment documentation and physical examinations are completed in a timely manner. - Corrects unsafe acts or conditions without delay. - Analyze and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems. Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals. - Initiates personnel actions, such as promotions, transfers, discharges, and disciplinary measures. - Maintain time and production records - Ensures customer inquiries related to billing problems, cylinder balances, order status, time of delivery, etc. are promptly and courteously handled, providing follow-up as necessary. - Establishes vehicle maintenance schedules. - Responsible for appearance, cleanliness and functionality of facilities - Demonstrates full knowledge of all order entry, data research and computer skills necessary to service customers and suppliers. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: - Operate a forklift, pallet jack and other warehouse equipment. - Other duties and projects as assigned. ________________________ Are you a MATCH? EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: - High school diploma or equivalent (GED). Bachelor's degree in related field a plus. - 5 years of production experience, preferably in our industry or a manufacturing or distribution environment. - 3 years of experience supervising, motivating and leading associates. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: - Analytic ability demonstrated by working knowledge of gas chromatography using FID, TCD, PID detectors, nondispersive infrared and component-specific analyzers for analysis of gaseous samples. - Thorough knowledge of manometric and gravimetric gas blending procedures, and working knowledge of laws of Partial Pressure. - Working knowledge of planning and blending mixtures containing fuel gases and oxidizers as well as other non-compatible gases. - Working knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and FDA regulations as they apply to the compressed gas industry. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Excellent organization, documentation and follow-up skills. - Mechanical aptitude. - Computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office or similar software. - Ability to routinely lift 25 - 60 lbs. - Ability to perform work during prolonged standing up to 8 hours; Frequent bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, grasping, feeling and repetitive motion also required. - Ability to perform functions during occasional climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling and finger activities. - Ability to read and comprehend Safety Data Sheets (SDS). - Ability to work independently and under some pressure to meet deadlines. - Must be able to work flexible schedule to meet management requirements and customer expectations. - Must be able to work with a wide variety of people with different personalities and backgrounds. - Must be able to work outdoors in temperatures ranging from -10 to over 110 degrees. - Must be able to operate in a drug-free workplace. _________________________ Your differences enhance our performance At Airgas, we are committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace that embraces the diversity of our employees, our customers, patients, community stakeholders and cultures across the world.
