Lonza is IMMEDIATELY hiring a R&D Research Assistant to be involved in and support various R&D projects within Cell and Gene Therapy R&D team, through conducting iPSC reprogramming, cell culture expansion (2D and 3D), gene editing, differentiation, characterization (microscopy, flow cytometry, qPCR, ICC and similar) and cell banking. Required training will be provided. This position is located in the Shady Grove, MD office Key responsibilities: Execute iPSC reprogramming, iPSC and iPSC-derived cell characterization studies and analyze data to support ongoing projects. Hands-on or interested in learning reporter-line cell culture, various cell transfection methods, iPSC gene editing, single-cell cloning, iPSC expansion and cryopreservation techniques. Assist with cell culture and differentiation procedures in 2D and 3D format. Maintain accurate and timely records to appropriate quality standards, prepare high quality technical analyses and reports for internal or external collaborator. Perform various in vitro cellular and molecular biology laboratory experiments (after learning the systems and procedures) according to protocols and guidelines. Comply with strict safety procedures. Analyze, maintain and summarize data. Participate in planning research activities, track progress, flexible and ability to adapt with iPSC work culture activities. Participate in general lab activities such as meetings, cleaning and maintaining lab supplies and equipment. Key requirements: Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Engineering and Biotechnology required; Masters degree in life sciences, preferred Aseptic technique / work with BSC level 2, preferred Hands-on experience with cell culture, preferred Must have good communication skills in both written and oral forms Must have Good interpersonal skills Must have computer software skills including Microsoft Office Accurate record experience keeping is a plus Self-directed and self-motivated, willing to learn Ability to work in a matrix team environment as well as independently on routine experiments Hands on experience with the following is a plus: Multicolor flow cytometry Culturing pluripotent stem cells Immuno staining Microscopy ELISA qPCR Every day, Lonza’s products and services have a positive impact on millions of people.
