US Department of the Air Force - Agency Wide is Hiring a SECURITY SPECIALIST-DIRECT HIRE AUTHORITY Near Kirtland, NM

DUTIES:

  • Serve as the Primary NT2 Special Security Representative, Alternate Collateral Security Manager, and Alternate SAP security.
  • Manages directorate physical, personnel, information and industrial security requirements.
  • Directs activities of assigned contractor personnel.
  • Implements processes, trains directorate personnel and reviews or assists in the preparation of acquisition security.
  • Evaluates new concept, security regulations, and ideas of technical and management importance to make informed recommendations for Directorate leadership.
  • Provides policy, guidance, and associated training for Information Protection disciplines.
  • Manages facility certification and plans for future projects.
  • Examines security initiatives, protection measures, and processes for application across platform, system, and organizational lines.
  • Develops and prioritizes organizational security and information protection performance goals and mission objectives.
  • Develops operating procedures and plans, acquisition security concept, and implementation plans.
  • Identifies and validates mission security requirements through evaluation or development of security elements of applicable program.
  • Effectively provide briefings and keep NT Directorate, Division Chiefs and assigned personnel informed on security programs.

  • Obtain and maintain Top Secret security clearance.
  • Locations are not negotiable. The actual duty locations available may be located on the Air Force Civilian Service website.
  • Random drug testing may be required depending upon the position being filled.
  • Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise; employee must obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
  • The employee must obtain and maintain the required Department of Defense Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) and Security Asset Protection Professional Certification (SAPPC) Certification conferrals within 2 years.

  • The employee must demonstrate mastery of a wide range of advanced concepts, principles, criteria, requirements, technology, and practices involved in security.
  • The employee must demonstrate mastery of security program interrelationships to coordinate the objectives and plans of two or more specialized programs to support and promote information sharing and strategies.

Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of physical, information, industrial, personnel, and operations security concepts, principles, and
practices to plan and implement security programs in these areas.
2. Knowledge of required security training concepts, programs, procedures, and practices to assist managers in
establishing and operating internal security programs.
3. Knowledge of SCI and NATO procedures.
4. Skill in developing, analyzing, and evaluating security programs to meet mission requirements and improve the
security program for the installation.
5. Ability to communicate orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and accurately.
