Reports to: Director of Retail & Supply Chain

Job Location: West Hollywood

FLSA Status: Exempt

SUMMARY:

Manages and performs all functions related to overseeing daily operations of a high-volume cannabis retail store. Responsible for overall execution of company initiatives, store financial performance and goals, and employee development. All job functions should be completed with the goal of positioning Urbn Leaf as the industry standard of excellence in providing customers with best-in-class service.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Sets the standard for the customer experience and is a role model for a customer-first mentality.
  • Impacts and is present with the store teams. Ensures that the store is staffed with employees who are trained, motivated, and respectful of customer needs.
  • Reviews and improves organizational effectiveness by developing processes, overseeing employees, establishing a highly motivated work environment, and implementing innovative changes.
  • Analyzes and measures business trends; develops and implements plans to maximize sales to meet or exceed goals and objectives.
  • Deeply understands store P&L and manages controllable operating expenses.
  • Delivers communications to teams to ensure alignment with company goals and current initiatives.
  • Ensures the selling floor is adequately stocked and appropriate merchandise stock levels are kept at the location by partnering with the region inventory manager.
  • Follows through and provides feedback on marketing and merchandising programs.
  • Is aware of the competitive landscape and pays attention to industry changes and standards.
  • Understands and enforces all policies, processes, and relevant government regulations.
  • Manages security resources and ensures the safety of all employees and customers on property.
  • Hires, trains, leads, and develops a dynamic store leadership group. Clearly communicate expectations and company goals.
  • Ensure the location is adequately staffed; provide the necessary training, manuals, and standard operating procedures.
  • Exercises significant authority and discretion when addressing items that concern the team's development:
    • Participates in developing and implementing rules, regulations, policies, and procedures to advance the company’s mission, vision, goals, and objectives.
    • Completes annual reviews for staff and is a coaching voice to the team; counsels and follows corrective action procedures as needed.
    • Recommends hiring, performance, corrective actions, separation, or advancement of employees.
  • Other duties as assigned

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a team and gain consensus.
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles. Ability to interpret financial data and make critical business decisions.
  • Ability to forecast sales and results with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office Suite and G Suite.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with strategic and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Effective planning and organization skills.
  • Vision for excellence. Achieve the highest standards in retail execution.
  • Encourages store teams to do their best work; Leads with clarity and inspiration.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Work is generally performed seated and requires some bending, stooping, and reaching.
  • Prolong walking and standing, up to 6 hours at a time.
  • Prolong standing,
  • Will be required to work a flexible schedule based on store needs, including working varied hours/days, including nights, weekends, holidays, and/or events.
  • Lifting up to 50 pounds safely and adequately.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Business degree or equivalent professional qualification preferred
  • 5 years experience leading high volume, complex retail stores.
  • Must be 21 years old and pass a criminal background check per city regulations
