URBAN LEAGUE OF ROCHESTER NY INC is Hiring a Fund Development Coordinator Near Rochester, NY

Description

JOB SUMMARY:

The Urban League of Rochester (ULR) is seeking a Fund Development Coordinator to serve as a key staff on the Marketing and Fund Development Team. The Fund Development Coordinator supports all aspects of fundraising and development for ULR including but not limited to annual giving, major gifts, and events, planned giving, corporate, and foundation gifts. 

Reports directly to the Fund Development Officer, but also works with the CEO, SVP, Chief Financial Officer, VP of Program, Planning and Evaluation, and Board of Directors to develop strategies in fundraising. The Fund Development Coordinator will collaborate with the Fund Development Officer and President and CEO to create a multi-year fund raising plan for increasing revenue aligned with ULR’s strategic priorities and yields measurable results. The successful candidate will develop a strategy that will successfully focus on stewarding relationships and developing new partnerships to advance giving. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Events 

  • Coordinate and manage annual campaigns and fundraising events 
  • Coordinate new programs and events to advance giving
  • Serve as logistics coordinator for dedicated fundraising and cultivation events 

Sponsorships and Donor Cultivation

  • Maintain donor database and lead communication efforts with current and prospective donors of all levels
  • Coordinate sponsor renewals and drive new sponsor recruitment efforts
  • Develop and implement programs to identify, cultivate solicit and steward donors with an emphasis on maximizing revenue across all program divisions 
  • Set and achieve goals on cultivating and expanding the level of giving among our current portfolio of donors
  • Work strategically to develop efforts that align with donor priorities

Appeals 

  • Coordinate external mailing and online outreach for appeal letters 
  • Cultivate and solicit gifts from donors 
  • Coordinate membership campaign and solicitations of key gifts 
  • Coordinate stewardship efforts for donors and sponsors 

Communications 

  • Implement an Urban League brand strategy.
  • Develop and execute the overall marketing and communication deliverables for the League
  • Write and edit content for website and cross-channel marketing efforts.
  • Lead and manage marketing communications, fundraising, and digital campaigns ensuring funds are raised in a cost-effective manner
  • Develop an annual cross-channel campaign.
  • Establish a “constant contact” program that keeps all major donors, members, and event-event contributors engaged on what we are doing, the impact, how the funds are helping, and track volunteer opportunities 
  • Refresh annual case key messages on an annual basis 

· Prepare scripts and timeline for fundraising contacts (initial call, follow-up, thank you) 

  • Coordinate with the Fund Development Officer and CEO on promotion efforts, advertising, and graphic design

Grants 

  • Contribute to grant seeking efforts and reports as needed, in collaboration with Program Planning and Research Division

Donor tracking systems 

  • Ensure accuracy of donor information in database records, including capture of new and updated information and donor contact reports 
  • Acknowledge all donations in a timely fashion, including contacting appropriate staff for personal thank-you calls 
  • Organize, update, and generate dynamic reports from database 
  • Track donor stewardship contacts and ensure adherence to plan for each donor level 

Management

· Manage all contract event planners, venue and vendor contracts for events.

· Serve as liaison for the board of directors’ committees as directed by the President and CEO 

· Recommend opportunities and serve as coach to the leadership team, staff and board members to be a part of cultivating donors, partners, and sponsors.

General:

  • Represent the Urban League of Rochester as needed
  • Plan and develop procedures, methods and techniques for effective implementation and evaluation of fund development programs, strategies, and database
  • Provide complete, accurate, and timely reporting to the leadership team and other appropriate entities
  • Develop, review, and approve development correspondence and communications
  • May perform related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.

FLSA Status (Exempt/ Non-Exempt): Exempt

Position Type (Full Time/Part Time): Full time

Work Environment: Hybrid office environment at Urban League of Rochester (in-person and virtual work)

Other Factors: Evening and weekend work may be required 

Requirements

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to build effective business relationships with corporate and donor communities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Effective relationship building with volunteers, senior level community leaders, donors and staff. 
  • Ability to work with diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.). 
  • Strong and engaging verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong, results-oriented collaboration, project management and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects including setting and changing priorities while ensuring quality and timeliness
  • Willingness and ability to maintain a flexible work schedule when necessary consistent with the demands and needs of the Mission team, volunteers, community leaders and related special events 

Education:

  • Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to effectively perform the job.

Years of Relevant Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience fund raising management and marketing, 
  • Experience with CRM/database management (Salesforce preferred)
  • Familiarity with Salesforce Non Profit Edition
  • Effectively networked within the Greater Rochester, NY area
