Dispatch Supervisor
Duties:
- Oversee and manage the daily operations of the dispatch department
- Coordinate and schedule transportation activities, ensuring timely delivery of goods
- Utilize AS400, Transportation Management Systems (TMS), and other software to track and manage shipments
- Perform data entry tasks to update and maintain accurate records of shipments
- Communicate with drivers, customers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth operations
- Monitor and optimize fleet utilization, ensuring efficient use of resources
- Resolve any issues or delays in transportation, taking appropriate actions to minimize disruptions
- Train and mentor dispatch team members, providing guidance and support as needed
- Collaborate with other departments such as shipping/receiving and fleet management to streamline operations
- Stay updated on industry trends and regulations related to transportation logistics
Experience:
- Previous experience in a dispatch or transportation management role is required
- Proficiency in using AS400, Transportation Management Systems (TMS), and other relevant software
- Strong data entry skills with attention to detail
- Knowledge of 3PL (Third Party Logistics) operations is preferred
- Familiarity with phone systems used for communication with drivers and customers
- Experience with shipping/receiving processes is a plus
- Knowledge of SyteLine or Oracle Transportation Management is an advantage
