Job Posting Title: SHIFT Outreach & Program Manager ---- Hiring Department: UHS and CMHC ---- Position Open To: All Applicants ---- Weekly Scheduled Hours: 40 ---- FLSA Status: Exempt ---- Earliest Start Date: Mar 06, 2023 ---- Position Duration: Expected to Continue Until Aug 31, 2025 ---- Location: UT MAIN CAMPUS ---- Job Details: General Notes The SHIFT Program at the University of Texas at Austin is seeking the right candidate as their Outreach & Program Manager. SHIFT is a campus-wide initiative that aims to change the campus culture around substance use from one of misuse to one grounded in well-being. This position helps drive strategy to engage community members in environmental strategies that will positively impact culture change. Further responsibilities include the oversight of several programs that directly engage students, including the SHIFT List, SHIFT Makers, building resources for a chat bot, and overseeing student interns. This position will be responsible for some administrative work, specifically related to assessment and data collection relating to SHIFT. The purpose of this position is to deepen the impact of current programming while further cultivating meaningful relationships with strategic partners both on and off campus. This position is full time, 40 hours a week; typical hours are Monday-Friday 8:00-5:00, however, there may be occasional night and weekend work. The position is non-permanent, with a two-year funding commitment established. The position has potential for yearly renewal thereafter. Responsibilities: Community Engagement: Works with director to strategically engage community partners, both on and off campus, including outreach and follow-up Supervision: Student Development Specialist and assist in oversite of student employees: Includes hiring process for student interns: posting job description, scheduling interviews, hiring, and onboarding all student employees Oversees Student Programming Efforts: SHIFT List outreach and strategy, with assistance from Student Development Specialist and Graduate Assistant(s); Oversees SHIFT Maker logistics and assists in strategic development of program: helps to expand program through effective marketing and outreach, creates organized systems to strengthen foundation of program; Other student outreach and presentations Helps drive advancement of technology initiative (Pilot 5): coordinating with platform representatives, overseeing SHIFT team in development and implementation of web driven chat bot, coordinates curation of expert and student-led information Effectively assess the impact of initiatives and ensure best practices, while continuously evaluating emerging needs Attend to various department needs, including: standing in for director as needed; facilitating trainings and/or presentations as needed; collecting and reporting on departmental data; represent department in various meetings and/or committees; various administrative tasks Required Qualifications: Master’s degree in public health, public administration, public affairs, public policy, the social sciences, higher education/student development, health education or a related field. Competency around effective strategies for preventing substance use Demonstrated knowledge of how to impact the culture of drinking and drug use among in the higher education setting Demonstrated experience establishing and building successful partnerships toward a common goal or coalition leadership. Knowledge of current/emerging college health issues, intervention methods, health behavior change theories, ecological framework, and evidence-based practice Ability to work across multiple populations and disciplines, including but not limited to faculty, staff, students, senior administrators, trustees, parents, alumni, city officials, local merchants, and community residents Demonstrated ability in core areas of program planning Demonstrated oral /written communication skills Demonstrated ability to professionally navigate complex political and administrative environments; Excellent computer skills; MS Office Suite proficient; Cultural competency; demonstrated ability to successfully work with a diverse community and provide services from a non-judgmental perspective Proven record of delivering quality results in a timely manner Preferred Qualifications and Experience: Ability to take initiative, balance multiple projects, and work autonomously and as a member of a team Knowledge and experience with assessment methods and evaluative processes Demonstrated experience in building and amplifying strategic partnerships Demonstrated experience using innovative technology and methods to enhance outreach efforts Work experience within a higher education setting or with the college student population Familiarity with research and best practices in college health promotion Working knowledge of SPSS or other statistical analysis software. Salary Range $62,000 per year depending on qualifications Working Conditions May work around standard office conditions Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation Use of manual dexterity Exposure to chemicals and commercial items typically found in offices, medical clinics, and building repairs/maintenance.
