Parking Technician (Operations Specialist 1 -
MR02)

University of Tennessee, Chattanooga

This position is responsible for safely operating UTC Parking enforcement software, and hardware; serves as the backup driver for the parking enforcement vehicles; and is responsible for vehicle immobilization per UTC parking policy.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Operation of Enforcement Software & Hardware and Vehicle Immobilization

  • Issues citations to vehicles in violation of UTC Parking regulations
  • Operates parking enforcement software and hardware
  • Applies immobilization devices in accordance with UTC parking policy

Backup Operator of Enforcement Vehicles

  • Ensures safety of assigned equipment, passengers, and pedestrians
  • Ensures parking enforcement vehicle and equipment are in working order and reports any issues
  • Ensures parking enforcement vehicle is fully stocked with all necessary supplies

Other

  • Conducts lot utilization counts when assigned
  • Other duties as assigned

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Knowledge of parking enforcement policies and procedures
  • Skills in operating an automobile
  • Skills in operating parking enforcement software
  • Ability to communicate with other parking personnel
  • Ability to train and correct other parking personnel

Minimum Qualifications: Typically requires a high school diploma and six months of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. A valid driver’s license is required.

Preferred Qualifications: One year in a parking enforcement position; and/or one year of license plate recognition experience.
