Job Summary/Essential Job Functions: This position will perform a variety of complex accounting functions in support within Anesthesiology, Radiology, Psychiatry and ensures accuracy and compliance with the University fiscal policies. This position will assist with quality fiscal planning, monitoring and management of grants and State funds awarded to the Chair and the department.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare probable budgets and monthly expenditure reports for the Business Manager, Director, and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.
  • Respond to special requests on matters relating to departmental financial operations, and contract sponsors.
  • Verify departmental payroll; direct matters regarding grants and contracts, including review, and/or initiating contract review/routing forms through Finance; monitor contract salaries for compliance.
  • Approve expenditures associated with travel, seminars, educational programs and determine fund source.
  • Interview, hire, train, supervise, discipline, evaluate and maintain confidential files for employees and fellows; manage UT personnel policies and ensure departmental compliance.
  • Ensure that procedures and compliance requirements are followed; provide advice on financial and administrative matters.
  • Orient faculty, staff, and students on financial policies, including travel, purchasing, and other expenditures.
  • Manage and maintain records of accounts payable, receivables and purchasing; approve expenditures, and determine funding sources; monitor payments for contracts and maintain audit trails.
  • Supervise the electronic payment of invoices, justification of sole source services through Grants and Contracts, purchasing, electronic requisitions and the creation of asset numbers for inventory; manage procurement card processing to ensure guidelines are followed, and timely processing of charges.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field of study; one (1) year professional experience in Accounting, Grant Administration, or Fiscal Management OR a

combination of related college coursework and professional work experience to equal five (5) years. Applicant must possess computer knowledge to include Microsoft Office excellent communication skills.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Good interpersonal and writing skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally.
  • Good editing and organizational skills.
  • Good computer skills and command of various software programs (IRIS, Office Suite, especially Excel) a must.

WORK SCHEDULE: This position may be occasionally required to work evenings.
