Provide athletic training services for 23 varsity teams and over 500 student athletes. Maintain prevention, evaluation, management of athletic injuries and illnesses.
General Description of Position
The University of Mary Washington, an NCAA Division III institution located in Fredericksburg, VA, seeks applicants for Assistant Athletic Trainer position. The University is part of the state system of Virginia and enrolls approximately 4,000 total students. Fredericksburg is a vibrant and historic city located just off Interstate 95 halfway between Washington, DC and Richmond, VA. This is a full-time, eleven-month position reporting to the Head Athletic Trainer. The assistant athletic trainer will be responsible for the prevention, evaluation, treatment, referral, and rehabilitation of injuries and illnesses sustained by student-athletes. Specific duties include, but not limited to, assisting the daily health care of student athletes; recording and maintaining appropriate medical records, collaborating with the athletic training staff for scheduling, appropriately communicating with administrators, coaches, support staff, team physicians, and other medical personnel; and other duties as assigned. Master’s degree required. BOC Certification and CPR/AED for the health care professional required. Candidate must be eligible for state license through the VA Board of Medicine. Previous athletic training experience required with 1-3 years of collegiate athletic training experience preferred.

Required Education
Bachelors degree in Athletic Training from a Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) program, or currently enrolled in or completed Master’s degree in Athletic Training from a CAATE program.
Required Experience
Experience in an athletic training setting required. BOC Certification and CPR/AED/First Aid for the health care professional required. Candidate must be eligible for state license through the VA Board of Medicine.

Preferred Experience
1-3 years experience in a collegiate athletic training setting. Knowledge of the DIII athletics values.
