Job Summary The Business Intelligence Analyst will lead the design and development of complex BI (Business Intelligence) and analytics systems and improve the organization's data strategy and BI capabilities. They will also play a key role in implementing modern technologies and approaches, design and maintain visualizations, solve complex problems, perform data analysis and validation, achieve an integrated reporting and analysis environment, provide break/fix support using a coordinated, ITIL-based support model, troubleshoot and tune BI and analytics systems, and contribute to the continuous improvement of BI and analytics processes and tools. Responsibilities Leads the design and development of complex BI and analytic systems, taking ownership of projects from end-to-end and leading the technical team. Takes the lead on projects to achieve an integrated reporting and analysis environment, effectively leveraging analytical systems and tools. Acts as a subject matter expert, providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members and leading solution design. Leads the solution design of complex BI and analytics systems, taking ownership of projects from end-to-end and leading the technical team. Identifies opportunities for improving the organization's data strategy and BI capabilities and helps to drive the implementation of these initiatives. Participates in strategic planning and roadmap development for BI and analytics initiatives. Solves complex problems and identifies opportunities for technical improvement and performance optimization of new and existing systems. Plays a lead role in the implementation of recent technologies and approaches to improve BI and analytics capabilities. Develops and maintains strong relationships with key stakeholders, including IT leaders, business leaders, and end users. Designs, builds, and maintains beautiful and functional visualizations (reports and dashboards). Performs and documents data analysis, data validation, and data mapping/design. Demonstrates advanced skills in data analysis, visualization, and design, and applies these skills to solve complex business problems. Profiles data and documents objects, business rules, and caveats. Partners with IT teams and business professionals to establish data-driven policies and strategies across the organization. Participates in requirements analysis and translates requirements into a scope document. Liaises with users to ensure deliverables are meeting or exceeding expectations. Provides break/fix support and communicates issues to users as defined by IT Services standards. Troubleshoots and tunes BI and analytic applications. Guides and mentors other team members in their work, including providing training and help-desk activities. Participates in planning, testing, and roll-out of patches and upgrades to the BI and analytic software. Provides support related to software installation and troubleshooting, performance monitoring, data downloads, etc. Participates in the development and promulgation of BI and analytic system standards and procedures. Monitors access control and troubleshoots BI and analytic applications. Participates in planning, testing, and roll-out of patches and upgrades to the BI and analytic software. Develops Business Intelligence (BI) and other analytical applications. Works to achieve an integrated reporting and analysis environment, effectively leveraging analytical systems and tools. Guides requirements analysis, translating requirements into a scope document and developing reporting deliverables based on the design. Performs other related work as needed. Minimum Qualifications Education: Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field. --- Work Experience: Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 5-7 years of work experience in a related job discipline. --- Certifications: --- Preferred Qualifications Experience: Prior experience in business, information management, or related field. Prior experience designing and building dashboard and report deliverables using Tableau or Business Objects. Prior experience working within the ITIL framework including incident, service, problem, and change management processes and procedures. Technical Skills or Knowledge: Advanced knowledge of Tableau. Business Object knowledge. Working knowledge coding with SQL to profile data and troubleshoot. Knowledge of higher education administrative systems, data, and business processes. Understanding of project management methodology. Application development skills primarily focus on BI tools but are not limited to Business Objects or Tableau. Expertise using both formal software lifecycle development and project management. Develop applications (e.g., requirements gathering and analysis, framework, deliverable Development, testing, etc.). Strong skills with Microsoft Office including Excel. Preferred Competencies Analytic mindset to synthesize technical, functional, and user inputs, and problem-solve. Good sense of design.
