University Health Services, Inc. is Hiring a Lab Manager (Core/Chemistry Lab) Near Augusta, GA

Responsibilities

The Lab Manager is responsible for the overall quality of operations of the assigned Laboratory Sections for all shifts. This includes, but is not limited to, the administrative, managerial and technical functions of these Sections. Ensures efficient and productive utilization of the personnel and technical resources, consistent with workload demand and within budget guidelines. Is responsible for achieving compliance with regulatory agencies and ensuring that the technical performance commitment meets departmental standards. The position interacts with all laboratory sections, several hospital divisions, all nursing units, patients, medical staff members, outreach clients and the community. The individual serves as a resource to address, investigate, reply and monitor concerns when they are identified in the QARM System and by other notifications. The position is responsible for keeping abreast of regulatory requirements of the State, CAP, JCAHO, OSHA, and CLIA and shall oversee that changes in regulatory requirements are met in the laboratory. The individual may be asked to assume the duties of the Administrative Director and may coordinate the staffing on the evening, night, or weekend shifts. The position will also share Departmental Administrative call. This laboratory provides services for patients of all ages.

Qualifications

Education*Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology or related area plus a certification as a technologist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or equivalent required. Masters degree in business or related area and/or a specialty certification is strongly preferred.Licensure/Certification*Must meet all State and CLIA requirements for a supervisory position.Experience*A minimum of eight years of laboratory experience required of which at least three have been in a leadership role.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities*Substantial interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, required in order to interact with hospital staff, physicians, and patients to perform duties as listed in functions above. *An excellent in-depth technical knowledge of the laboratory section operations, as well as, the ability to exercise sound independent judgement is required in order to ensure efficient utilization of technical resources. *A high level of professionalism, initiative, and resourcefulness required in order to lead, develop, and motivate staff in problem solving issues. *Computer literacy skills in Windows-NT, Lotus Notes, Word and Excel.
