Pay Banding Information:

Actual pay will be based on experience and qualifications, but is expected to be in the range of $54K - $81k.

UCU is actively recruiting for an IT Help Desk Specislist. This position will:

  • Provides technical support to end users and answers questions.
  • Notifies supervisor of significant problems and recurring errors in operating programs and resolves minor operating problems.
  • Loads and operates computers and peripheral equipment and ensures that computer functions run smoothly. Assists Credit Union personnel as required. 
  • Sets up new users, assists new users with network access and resolves connection problems. Installs, upgrades and backs up new software. 
  • Responsible for contributing to the team’s overall success by achieving negotiated service activity and quality goals through the identification of process and program enhancements designed to satisfy member needs.
  • Responsible for performing computer related processes to include (but not limited to): database administration, networking, technical support, ATM installation and driving, and network security. 
  • Provides support in the expansion of on-line products.
  • Maintains activity logs, completes data backups, and performs minor preventive maintenance on equipment. 
  • Monitors network utilization and security systems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

  • Assumes responsibility for the effective performance of network administration duties.
  • Assumes responsibility for performing timely and effective user support services.
  • Assumes responsibility for the effective and efficient maintenance of computers and peripheral equipment.
  • Assumes responsibility for the timely and accurate generation of reports.
  • Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective communication and coordination with Credit Union personnel and with management.
  • Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications


PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS

  • Credit Union personnel are supported or assisted as required.
  • Required reports and records are generated accurately and promptly.
  • Computer operations are efficient. Problems are promptly resolved or appropriately referred.
  • Computer equipment is well maintained.
  • Computer operations are completed in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Management is notified of computer operations activities and significant problems.

QUALIFICATIONS 

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

  • Associate’s Degree in Information Systems and Technology or similar technology designation. 
  • A Certification or similar certification.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of computer hardware and software. 
  • Knowledge of networking and network communication. 
  • Communications (telephone) knowledge a plus.
  • Understanding of Credit Union operations and information output needs.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • At least three years of experience in an IT related position. 

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Attentive to detail.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to operate computer, printer, computer tape drive, and other business equipment.
  • Willingness to assist others.
