The Opportunity:
The Engineer II position serves the University of Central Florida by acting as the subject matter expert for all Facilities projects involving mechanical systems such as HVAC, plumbing, and energy system domains.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:
* Supports UCF's facility condition assessment (FCA) program and capital renewal portfolio with detailed building walk-downs, assessing and evaluating all deficiencies on mechanical equipment. Facilitates a prioritized allocation of capital planning needs by providing data to leadership for needs and budgetary forecasts and variance reports.
* Performs design reviews of mechanical drawings and specifications for construction and operational projects, including building code and UCF Construction Standards reviews. Produce submittal review feedback addressing all errors, concerns, and recommendations for efficiency improvements.
* Conducts construction reviews of mechanical equipment for compliance, as requested by department leadership and/or project managers. Identify issues discovered and facilitate a resolution.
* Serves as primary source of Mechanical Engineering consultation for projects to be conducted on UCF Facilities, infrastructure or systems. Provides technical counsel to Facilities Project Managers and leadership regarding codes, standards, and specifications for mechanical equipment.
* Collaborates with Facilities leadership staff and trades shops on reviews of campus mechanical systems to improve safety, quality and functionality. Evaluate mechanical equipment for reliability, feasibility, and overall performance. Assist with scope of work development, permit packages, and work packages.
* Supports and troubleshoots existing MEP systems for operations. Provides data analytics that advances leadership in facilities operational methods and deployment of technology to improve operational excellence and drive down O&M costs.
* Prepares correspondences, periodic or special reports related to assignments; and contribute effectively to the accomplishment of the team or agency goals, objectives, and activities.
* Provides recommendation to leadership in the execution of improvement activities and engage in joint design optimization (e.g., feasibility of design, engineering, and fabrication concepts; use of alternative engineering approaches).
* Reviews and advises on revisions to UCF's Construction Standards.
* Utilizes data analytics to compile and summarize large datasets of information for future policies, reporting, presentations, and operational improvements.

Minimum Qualifications :
Bachelor's or Master's degree and 2 years of relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications :
* Ability to analyze and interpret data and schematic details and make appropriate recommendations.
* Requires strong interpersonal and organizational skills, a dedication to client services, and a high attention to detail.
* Ability to be decisive and work well under pressure, particularly when faced with unexpected occurrences or delays.
* Ability to be flexible and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
* Experience in large complex organizations with exposure in facility management.
* Extensive knowledge of all aspects of maintenance and construction.
* Prior use and interpretation of facility maintenance vendor contracts is preferred.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. Must be able to establish and maintain good working relationships with internal and external customers.
