Overview

The Social Media Specialist is a results-driven individual who is passionate about connecting with people interested in entering the skilled trades. Reporting to the Manager of Digital Content, this critical role is responsible for actively managing UTI’s online reputation, driving qualified traffic to our owned properties, driving positive engagement, and crafting engaging content. The Social Media Specialist is a creative thinker and storyteller with strong writing skills who is able to translate Universal Technical Institute’s voice and tone for social media, track social conversations, and make our content accessible and engaging.

Responsibilities

• Work with the Digital Content Manager to help run Universal Technical Institute’s social accounts in order to increase engagement, traffic, and followers
• Create editorial calendars and workflows 
• Pitch and execute new content ideas for social platforms like Instagram and TikTok
• Package web content (including blog articles) in engaging ways in order to drive social media referral traffic back to our website where people can fill out lead forms
• Optimize and execute the community engagement strategy through monitoring conversations and respond when needed to address concerns and ensure that UTI is being represented in a positive manner
• Ensure that anyone requesting information through UTI’s social channels receives a timely response
• Foster and build relationships with community power users and influencers to increase awareness and positive sentiment
• Track and analyze data to help improve overall social media marketing performance
• Report on content topics that drive the most engagement, frequent comments and questions that need to be addressed, and overall sentiment across our social channels in order to improve our overall social media content marketing strategy
• Work with stakeholders, campuses, and sales team to help drive initiatives
• Ensure that all communications are compliant
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education / Experience

• Associates degree or equivalent experience with demonstrated ability is strongly preferred
• Minimum one - two (1-2) years of experience (in social media roles at an agency are preferred)
• Familiarity with in-platform video editing on channels like Instagram and TikTok is a plus 

Skills

• Strong writing skills that drive action (must provide writing samples)
• Proven social media marketing experience on Meta, TikTok, Snapchat, YouTube, Twitter, and others
• Creativity and a passion for social media marketing
• Strong customer service skills
• Ability to create and manage an editorial calendar for multiple accounts
• Reputation and community management oversight and implementation on social media channels
• Ability to apply brand standards, voice and tone to content that is also compliant
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects and tasks
• Ability to work in a rapidly changing business environment and reprioritize as neededwithin a team setting
• Build relationships with a diverse group of employees and departments
• Knowledge and understanding of the transportation and motor sports enthusiast market preferred
• Attention to detail
• Effective teamwork skills
• Social media content performance reporting experience is a plus
