As a Sr. Product Manager within the Provider Digital Transformation Emerging Solutions team, you are responsible for maturing product development plans and strategies for large initiatives across various channels within the provider’s journey. This team is responsible for establishing the vision and strategy for the product solution in collaboration with their cross-functional team. As the key liaison between the business and engineering teams, your analysis, documentation and communication skills are critical to exceeding customer expectations and establishing and driving the product road map.

You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Applies key strategies to improve and maintain market share of a new or existing product; understands the key indicators to assess product performance and inform decisions about product features and viability; develops and applies deep product expertise to credibly represent, manage, and support product
  • Analyzes data from KPIs and recommends appropriate actions; May direct others in data and metric requirements
  • Explains competitive landscape and how product fits into it; Owns product holistically; Anticipates what is happening in the market and plans and executes on insights learned; Translates data into a compelling business case and customer story
  • Uses creative thinking to solve problems, challenges current thinking
  • Works with matrix partners to translate required capabilities into concrete operational processes and measurement plans; Interprets vision and translates into requirements for engineering teams; Validates requirements with marketplace via pilots and beta groups; Pro-actively identifies needs/priorities of audience and provides relevant information when sharing insights, including facts and explanation of decision-making criteria
  • Tells the story of the product both internally and externally; Provides subject matter expertise; Joins sales team on calls to offer expertise
  • Demonstrates understanding of methods to gather market insights and analyze competitive landscape through partnership with Market Research and/or direct participation in key activities; Interprets and use the analyses to inform and recommend product strategy across the product lifecycle
  • Observes customer interactions with product; Dialogues with stakeholders on implications and modifications; Accurately represents customer needs with internal stakeholders; and in related plans
  • Identifies and accesses relevant data to build compelling business case in self-directed manner; Partners with finance to complete the cost/benefit analysis and track forecast to ensure the product is performing as expected
  • Identifies and assesses the impact of financial decisions; Translates assessment into capital request
  • Identifies opportunities to leverage technology to improve product capabilities; Shares learnings with others to influence change
  • Accurately translates technical terms and concepts to non-technical stakeholders; Effectively represents technical challenges and opportunities to external and internal stakeholders; Leverages insights to adjust timelines and resource allocation
  • Prioritizes roadmap and articulates a logical, iterative approach to delivering the customer solution; May serve as lead product manager in an Agile environment
  • Builds and cultivates cross-functional, cross-enterprise relationships with internal and external stakeholders, effectively leverages them to gain support, buy-in and to enable action
  • Develops understanding of the long-range vision and establishes steps for the future; Analyzes options, assessing immediate and long-term impacts, and recommends possible courses of action
  • Embraces and champions need for change; Provides tools to support change; Identifies and implements strategies to gather support and achieve adoption of change within own area of responsibility
  • Applies data-driven knowledge and best practices from one situation to the next, as appropriate; Recommends changes based upon data to improve product
  • Seeks feedback and identifies opportunities to modify processes; Assesses impacts of change and develops inclusive response
  • Represents Our United Culture missions and values in all activities, demonstrating exemplary customer service with internal and external team members
  • Models collaborative leadership behavior with the team
  • Works well in a matrix environment across cross - functional teams

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience
  • 5 years of experience with Agile processes, including development of user stories and gathering business requirements from client/business stakeholders
  • Ability to problem solve including multiple priorities and research conflicting and/or inaccurate data
  • Mastery of product lifecycle process and experience working with agile software delivery tools (CA Agile, AHA, etc.)
  • Experience leading and coordinating efforts across matrixed organizations
  • Experience developing and communicating a Product Strategy
  • Experience in development and communicating Roadmaps of activities to achieve the Product Strategy. Experience prioritizing work efforts across matrixed teams to manage the most effective delivery of deliverables on the Roadmap

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Healthcare Experience
  • Ability to achieve goals in a matrixed environment
  • Ability to work collaboratively and influence others
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentations to all levels of project governance
  • Certification in Product Management or Agile scrum

Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, or New York City Residents Only:  The salary range for Colorado/Connecticut/Nevada/New York City residents is $97,300 to $176,900. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
