This position in UHC Accounting and Controls analyzes and issues provider risk share incentive payments and related accruals. As part of this work, the position maintains general ledger account reconciliations, prepares journal entries in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, and prepares documentation to support external and internal audits and Regulatory requirements and deadlines. This position will also participate in process improvement activities, application upgrades, and new program implementation projects.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and issue risk sharing incentive program payments and related accruals and reporting
  • Prepare journal entries in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles for assigned businesses and/or groups
  • Perform account reconciliations and flux analyses
  • Prepare documentation in support of external and internal audits
  • Prepare documentation to support Regulatory requirements and deadlines
  • Create presentations and / or analysis to communicate with Finance and health plan leadership
  • Perform ad hoc reporting and analysis and investigate issues providing explanations and interpretation
  • Develop innovative approaches for continued improvement in efficiency and effectiveness
  • Participate in application upgrades and new program implementation projects

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent
  • 1 years of professional accounting experience
  • Solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and financial statements
  • Solid technical aptitude, with intermediate proficiency in MS Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Public accounting experience
  • Accounting experience with regulated entities
  • Healthcare industry experience
  • Experience with SAS, Hyperion Essbase / Smart View and PeopleSoft Financials
  • Demonstrated ability to solve moderately complex problems and/or conduct moderately complex analyses
  • Demonstrated ability to assess and interpret customer needs and requirements

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
