The Lab Assistant will receive, accession, label, aliquot and process specimens. This individual will also be responsible for filing items, stocking supplies and clerical duties to support the Laboratory technicians, pathologists and management.

The schedule for this position is as follows; Monday - Friday, 8:00pm - 2:00/3:00am, depending on work load.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide customer service to all employees and Physician
  • Accession and bar codes specimens
  • Facilitate the Add-on process
  • Perform kit testing according to manufacturer’s specifications
  • Provide phone support to all sites regarding specimen collection, add-on testing, missing results, substandard specimens, and electronic procedures
  • Notify Physician of panic values and documents according to policy
  • Perform lab testing according to validated training
  • Assist lab Technologists as needed

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to work an evening shift schedule of 8:00pm - 2:00 / 3:00am
  • Full COVID-19 vaccination is an essential job function of this role. Candidates located in states that mandate COVID-19 booster doses must also comply with those state requirements. UnitedHealth Group will adhere to all federal, state and local regulations as well as all client requirements and will obtain necessary proof of vaccination, and boosters when applicable, prior to employment to ensure compliance. Candidates must be able to perform all essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation

Preferred Qualifcations:

  • 1 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience handling patient specimen samples (blood, urine or tissue) and processing for testing

Proof of immunity to vaccine-preventable diseases is an employment requirement.
