Southwest Medical Associates (SMA) is a multi-specialty group of physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and Physician Assistants consisting of over 300 providers, 21 medical health centers including six urgent care clinics, four convenient care centers, two lifestyle centers catering to older adults, an outpatient surgery center, plus E-visits and online options via Now Clinic telemedicine technology. SMA offers patients compassion, innovation, and quality care throughout southern Nevada. SMA is headquartered in the greater Las Vegas, NV area.

The Echocardiographer receives direction operationally from the Echocardiography Supervisor and/or the RN Supervisor. Works cooperatively with all Cardiology team members to optimize health outcomes for patients. Supports the overall vision of the Positive Patient Experience by achieving a positive balance of healthcare, cost outcomes and patient satisfaction. Facilitates excellent customer satisfaction while achieving department specific financial goals. Provides direct patient care, and produces two-dimensional ultrasonic records and Doppler flow analyses of the heart and related structures. 

Primary Responsibilities:

• Explain procedures and testing to patients in understandable terms
• Perform adult cardiac ultrasound studies and stress echocardiogram studies and prepare images for review by the Cardiology Provider
• Direct communication with the Cardiology Providers for critically abnormal studies
• Maintain self-compliance with all company policies and procedures, state and federal regulation and standards of practice
• Assist Cardiology Providers performing transesophageal echocardiograms
• Able to perform as a lead technician in being a source of knowledge and expertise on processes and procedures
• Ensures that all care meets individualized goals of the treatment plan
• Ensures standards of care are implemented and compliance with all state and federal regulations, standards of practice, and company policies and procedures

Required Qualifications:

• Graduate of a recognized 1 - 2 year noninvasive cardiology program with emphasis in cardiac anatomy and physiology preferred and / or the equivalent of 3 years cardiac sonography experience
• Current BLS certification or ability to obtain upon hire
• Active status under the American Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographers in Cardiology (ARDMS) OR Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
• 1 years of clinical experience in an acute care setting with demonstrated proficiency in cardiac sonography
• Knowledge of adult coronary anatomy
• Knowledge of coronary disease processes
• Ability to perform routine cardiac ultrasounds, emergent cardiac ultrasounds, stress echo procedures and assist Cardiology Providers with transesophageal echocardiograms

Nevada Residents Only: The hourly range for Nevada residents is $28.85 to $51.30.
