Be a part of the Community & State Marketing Strategy team responsible for creating and delivering marketing efforts for Medicaid plans across the country. The Director, Marketing Strategy will develop and lead a team of regional marketing experts within the Eastern region of the country.  This position will partner closely with Regional Growth and Health Plan Teams to ensure seamless delivery of end-to-end marketing communications campaigns geared toward driving C&S member engagement, retention and acquisition.  The scope of the role requires a leader who can guide the team through change and transformation while accelerating the pace of new marketing innovations to reach and engage current and prospective members. 

If you are located in the Eastern Time Zone, you will have the flexibility to telecommute* as you take on some tough challenges. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work with the team to facilitate the transition of business goals into marketing objectives and strategies that facilitate business growth by leveraging insights from data and market dynamics for success
  • Oversee the development and execution of marketing strategies across all channels, through high impact messages and innovative formats
  • Partner with the Digital Strategy and Clinical marketing leads within the team to develop a cohesive marketing plan - inclusive of all member communication touchpoints across the team
  • Lead Consumer &State Marketing research pipeline in partnership with Member Experience and Strategic Insights Team to ensure the voice of the member is reflected in our work (e.g. message testing)
  • Lead the development of scalable, multi-cultural marketing approach to ensure diversity, equity and inclusion for all touchpoints
  • Ensure utilization of marketing best practices across the team including a digital-first approach, development of KPI’s and reporting of results to stakeholders
  • Develop, manage, and maintain relationships with internal (product, growth operations, legal, creative, etc.) and external stakeholders and keep them informed about marketing initiatives 
  • Oversee regional marketing budget to deliver against growth goals
  • Leading the Central Region Marketing staff through coaching, developing, and training opportunities

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 10 years of strategic marketing leadership
  • 5 years leading or managing a team
  • Account management experience, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines within specified time constraints
  • Proven success in the development of strategic marketing plans tied to business goals and execution of innovative integrated marketing campaigns
  • Proven success managing multiple agency and external vendor relationships
  • Resides in the Eastern Time zone
  • Ability to travel up 25%

Preferred Qualifcations:

  • MBA or equivalent
  • Change management experience and/or certification 
  • Ability to work collaboratively and influence across levels in matrixed environment
  • Ability to develop and communicate a point of view, influence without authority, and balance multiple priorities

Connecticut Residents Only: The salary range for Connecticut residents is $113,500 to $218,100. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
