The Business Process Analyst supports Optum business divisions by administering their Quarterly Variable Compensation program serving 20,000 employees across the Optum enterprise with the potential to scale to 50,000 employees.

The Business Process Analyst performs a variety of analyses, projects and initiatives, and quality control of monthly and quarterly incentive payments. The role may also entail overseeing program wide communications and developing and implementing processes. The Business Process Analyst works proactively and independently across the organization to drive short- and long-term goals.

We seek a team player who seeks solutions to overcome complex obstacles and missing information to ensure deadlines are met or exceeded and has strong initiative and ability to think and act on their own while staying coordinated with all stakeholders. Further success traits include solid critical thinking skills, perseverance and resourcefulness, a sound process for tracking and completing deliverables and comfort with ambiguity in a high growth environment.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Maintain, daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc reporting for all stakeholders while ensuring accuracy and timely distribution
  • System and Data Quality Control
    • Timely and accurate review of monthly and quarterly files
    • Serve as subject matter expert for identifying format and data logic issues and communicating with program management team and business stakeholders
    • Support the development of tools and platforms that promote on-time data submission and reduction in re-submission rates and payment adjustments
  • Communications
    • Identifies and implements efficiency and experience improvements for all stakeholders regarding communications including systemic auto-notifications, plan draft and docu-sign integration, proofing, and reporting
    • Manages monthly reminders to process stakeholders, maintains performance tracking and escalates when needed
    • Provides and maintains onboarding and change order communication templates for desired information and brand consistency
    • Prepare for, attend, and lead client facing webinars, project meetings and training sessions
    • Timely and accurate response to inquiries and e-mails received from employees and their leaders
    • Appropriate escalation of patterns or wholesale issues
  • Assist with plan implementation, administration and changes for accuracy and completeness
  • Ensures accuracy of all deliverables including presentations, spreadsheets, and reporting
  • Escalates issues to department leadership for support and guidance
  • Support other team initiatives as indicated including training, remediation, and compliance audits

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree (or higher) OR 4 years working in a healthcare related field
  • 2 years of compensation or human resource experience
  • 2 years of business/finance analysis experience
  • 2 years of experience in programs or projects, including planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating programs and projects, coordinating project activities, collaborating with project teams
  • 2 years of customer facing written communication skills including empathy and use of positive language
  • 1 year of experience with presenting and communicating with senior leaders of an organization
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including filters, vlookups, manipulating data, pivot tables, graphing, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Entry level PostgreSQL experience
  • Previous experience with incentives process and Incentive Compensation Management (ICM) tools like Varicent or similar applications
  • Adept at understanding complex concepts and situations presented by the business environment
  • On-time and accurate task management using a system for tracking deliverables

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving, organizational and time management skills

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $26.15 to $46.63. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $28.85 to $51.30.
